AFC Announces Upcoming Schedule of Events at FTTH Council Expo in Orlando PETALUMA, Calif., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AFC(R) (NASDAQ:AFCI), The Acronym for Access(SM), today announced its participation in the following upcoming events at the Fiber-to-the-Home Council Conference and Expo. The three-day event takes place October 4-6 at the Caribe Royale Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. In addition to the events listed below, AFC will be showcasing its FiberDirect(SM) solution, a carrier's most direct path to Fiber-to-the-Premises, at Booth #1008 in the exhibit area. Headlining AFC's participation is a presentation by Mark Abrams, AFC's senior director of product line management for FTTP. Abrams will explore existing vs. greenfield construction in the access network and the advantages of FTTP in each setting. Abrams will also provide a comprehensive list of deep fiber access benefits and differentiators, including why deployment of fiber and network intelligence out to a subscriber's premises is the better choice for carriers looking to increase revenue streams by facilitating a competitive service bundle. Abrams' remarks mirror the point of view provided in his paper titled "Fiber vs. Copper," which is being published in conjunction with the conference by the FTTH Council. Also published, as part of the FTTH Council expo, is a paper titled "Cost-Effective Implementation of FTTH," authored by Sean Blakley, AFC's manager of product line management for FTTP. Building on the economic premise of Abrams' presentation and paper, Blakley discusses two key network movements already underway in the access space: fiberization and packetization. Blakley's paper discusses the major considerations and decision-making processes associated with architecting a fiber-based, intelligent access environment central to delivering the competitive triple play of voice, video and high-speed data services.
