AdStar to Power The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Next
Generation Online Classified Self-Publishing System
Expanded Relationship With AdStar to Enable Four Classified Verticals With
Reverse Publishing
MARINA DEL REY, Calif., May 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AdStar, Inc. , a
leading applications service provider of e-commerce transaction technology for
the advertising and publishing industries, today announced that it has reached
an agreement with The Atlanta Journal- Constitution (AJC) to power classified
web order entry for the publication's four online vertical classified
advertising products -- Recruitment, Autos, Real Estate and Merchandise. Using
AdStar's XML Gateway, AJC will allow advertisers to self-publish their
advertisements in the paper and on the web from AJC.com and its family of
websites. Once created online, ads will flow through AdStar's XML Gateway
where they can be sent to the AJC front-end print system and/or the newspaper's
web site.
AdStar's Web-based ad-transaction technology extends the classified advertising
self-publishing opportunities for the AJC by allowing advertisers to
simultaneously create, schedule and pay for ads for publication in the print
and online versions of the newspaper. Advertisers that now create the same
version of classified ads via the web for print and online distribution will
soon be able to reverse publish a different version into print through one
single order. AdStar's service will enable AJC's Internet platform to offer
advertisers ad enhancements and a variety of pricing packages for print- only,
online-only or a combination of print and online products.
"The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is one of our marquee customers and has used
our remote ad entry and online products for many years, so we are pleased that
the publication has once again decided upon an AdStar solution to help expand
its classified advertising offerings," said Leslie Bernhard, president and
chief executive officer of AdStar. "Our Web-based ad-transaction technology is
removing a barrier that has existed since the Internet changed the publishing
landscape many years ago -- how to reverse publish ads. We make it possible
through a technologically seamless process that is both convenient for
advertisers and affordable for publishers. Our technology is helping
newspapers take steps towards complete integration of their print and online
advertising strategies."
All ads created online will be stored in the AJC's advertising directory.
Advertises will be able to go online at AJC.com or any one of its family of
websites and instantly recall, change and schedule previously published ads for
renewal. Under the terms of the agreement, other Cox newspapers will be able
to use the XML Gateway to process ads for their respective on-line and print
products.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is the flagship of Cox Newspapers, Inc., an
operating company of Cox Enterprises, one of the nation's leading media
companies. The AJC is read by 1.2 million adults daily and more than 1.8
million adults on Sundays. AJC.com is the online extension of the print
newspaper and, combined with its family of websites, has more than 3.3 million
unique visitors each month.
