AdStar to Power Newspaper Listing Ad-Transaction Services for The
Washington Post
Top Major Daily Expands Relationship With AdStar; Extends Reverse-Publishing
Process With AdStar's Integrated e-commerce Technology
MARINA DEL REY, Calif., June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AdStar, Inc.
(NASDAQ:ADSTNASDAQ:ADSTW), a leading applications service provider of
e-commerce transaction technology for the advertising and publishing
industries, today announced that it has signed a contract with The Washington
Post (TWP) to power a new online recruitment service. As part of the
agreement, TWP will incorporate AdStar's technology that allows advertisers to
create and schedule their print recruitment advertisements through an online
order entry process. This service will use AdStar's XML Gateway to integrate
into the newspaper's publishing system.
With the help of AdStar's technology, TWP and washingtonpost.com will offer
their advertisers the ability to purchase both newspaper and online ads in a
single transaction which will take place on washingtonpost.com. The service
will offer advertisers a number of pricing packages for print-only or a
combination of print and online products.
"The Washington Post has used our remote ad entry solution for many years, so
we are pleased that the publication has once again turned to us to help expand
its classified advertising efforts," said Leslie Bernhard, president and chief
executive officer of AdStar. "Our Web-based ad-transaction technology makes it
possible for advertisers that traditionally only created online recruitment
advertisements to reverse publish their ads to print. While practically every
newspaper offers online ads, the ability to take those ads, and republish them
to print without forcing advertisers to resubmit them by e-mail, fax, phone or
in person, has been a challenge for all newspapers. We have the technology to
eliminate that challenge. Our services will make it easier for advertisers to
reach the vast audience that faithfully reads The Washington Post and visits
washingtonpost.com for instant access to the latest news and information."
washingtonpost.com is published by Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive (WPNI).
The Washington Post and WPNI are award-winning news, information and
entertainment resources. More than 1 million people receive The Washington
Post each Sunday while the online version of the publication is considered the
number one major national news site for an affluent, educated and influential
audience and has than 5.8 million unique visitors each month. Both The
Washington Post and WPNI are divisions of The Washington Post Company.
