Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), the data converter market share leader* and a data conversion and signal processing technology innovator for more than 47 years, today introduced a two-channel, high-performance 14-bit, 125-MSPS A/D converter that reduces total power consumption by 22 percent over competing solutions. In addition to delivering high speed and wide dynamic range at lower power, the cost-effective and functionally flexible AD9645 A/D converter is available in a 5-mm × 5-mm package, which represents a 30 percent space savings over the nearest competitor. The new converter meets the performance and size requirements of the latest 3G and 4G multi-standard cellular infrastructure equipment, such as CDMA2000, WB-CDMA, LTE, TD-SCDMA and multi-carrier GSM. Other key applications include battery-powered, hand-held instruments, scopes and portable medical devices.

The dual AD9645 A/D converter consumes only 122 mW/channel at 125 MSPS (mega samples per second) and features excellent SFDR (spurious-free dynamic range) performance of 91 dBc at 70 MHz. With an IF sampling range of up to of 200 MHz, the device is designed for use in multi-mode digital receiver architectures. A pin-compatible dual 12-bit version, the AD9635, is also available, enabling an easy migration path between 12-bit and 14-bit converters with sampling rates from 20 MSPS to 125 MSPS.

The AD9645 dual A/D converter features a multi-stage, differential pipelined architecture with integrated output-error-correction logic. The AD9645 is available in a 32-lead RoHS-compliant LFCSP and is specified over the industrial temperature range of –40°C to +85°C. The dual A/D converter features a space-saving serial 1.8-V LVDS digital output with two lanes per channel.

AD9645 14-bit High-speed A/D Converter Key Features:

  • SNR = 74.3 dBFS at fIN up to Nyquist input frequency; 125 MSPS sampling rate
  • ENOB of 12 at fIN up to Nyquist input frequency
  • SFDR = 91 dBc at fIN = 70 MHz
  • Excellent DC linearity:
    • DNL = ±0.65 LSB typical
    • INL = ±1.5 LSB typical
