Independence Air Chairman and CEO Kerry Skeen said, "The strong positive
reaction we're getting to the introduction of Independence Air is a clear
signal that people are really excited about welcoming a competitive new low-
fare airline to Charleston. We've said from the very beginning that
Independence Air would challenge the status quo by creating a new kind of air
travel experience that is fast, easy and always low-fare -- even when you have
to travel at the last minute. Now, starting tomorrow, we finally get to make
good on that promise."
The Independence Air hub at Washington Dulles will be the largest low-fare hub
in America by later this summer -- with 300 daily departures. In addition to
non-stop service from Charleston to Washington starting tomorrow, by later this
summer Independence Air will also offer a schedule of easy one-stop connections
to over 25 destinations in the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Midwest including
Albany (NY), Boston, Buffalo, Burlington (VT), Charleston (WV), Chicago,
Cleveland, Columbus (OH), Dayton, Detroit, Hartford, Indianapolis, Lansing,
Louisville, Manchester (NH), Newark, New York (JFK), Norfolk, Pittsburgh,
Portland (ME), Providence, Rochester (NY), Stewart/Newburgh (NY), Syracuse,
White Plains (NY) and more.
Flights from Charleston to Washington will be aboard newly-upgraded 50- seat
iJETs with all-leather slimline seats that provide more legroom than ever
before. These aircraft offer several distinct advantages for travelers:
-- Fast boarding and deplaning -- even the last row clears in just a few
minutes -- No middle seats -- everyone gets either an aisle or window seat --
Planeside carry-on baggage check-in -- leave your carry-ons at the doorway of
the aircraft and they'll be there waiting for you when you arrive
