Devoteam Subsidiary Crocodile RCS Launches Hosted Service to Help Mobile Operators Accelerate Roll-out of Rich Communication ..

Crocodile RCS Ltd, a subsidiary of Devoteam Group (Paris:DVT), today announced the launch of a hosted service allowing mobile operators to quickly roll out advanced subscriber services incorporating Instant Messaging, live video sharing, file transfer and presence.

The Crocodile service supports RCS-e and RCS 2.0 standards and additional features previously developed for operators offering ‘RCS-like’ services. The service utilises Crocodile’s SuperNode platform – a scalable, carrier-class core network solution which is fully compatible with IMS.

The service will be available from March as a cloud service delivered from two independent data centres located in the south of England and supported 24 x 365 from Crocodile’s dedicated support centre.

According to John Parr, Crocodile’s MD – “Until now there have been a number of factors holding back the deployment of RCS services - the technical complexity of the solution, the dependence on an expensive IMS core network and concerns about the ‘cannibalisation’ of call and SMS revenues. We have solved the first two issues by providing a hosted core network platform using our own IMS-compatible technology and by performing extensive IOT testing with RCS clients provided by partners. And now ‘cannibalisation’ is rapidly becoming a non-issue as operators switch to new revenue models to compete with OTT players. We think our hosted service model will prove an excellent means for mobile operators to offer RCS services quickly, while keeping their options open to bring the service in-house at a later stage. It removes the necessity to invest in further network infrastructure which is particularly important for smaller operators and MVNOs.
