On November 14, 2003, the Tokyo Police raided on headquarters of Takefuji
Corporation (the Company) with regard to the unlawful wiretapping charges of the
Company's former employee, Kazuhiro Nakagawa, who has been arrested and been on
trial on suspicion of attempting to embezzle corporate assets. Please note that
this search was conducted in connection with the suspicion of wiretapping fixed
on him as an individual, and our office was subjected to the search solely in
connection with being his former workplace. This is a matter involving the
alleged activities of a particular individual who happens to be a former
employee of our company. Nonetheless, the Company deeply regrets any concerns
caused to the public by this incident. Given the circumstances, we have reviewed
and reinforced overall control on information management and internal discipline
thoroughly in order to prevent a reoccurrence of such an incident.

We greatly appreciate the support given by our customers, shareholders and other
persons concerned; we owe what the Company is today to such people. We continue
