The May Department Stores Company Pledges Funds to Assist With
Tsunami Disaster Relief
ST. LOUIS, Dec. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The May Department Stores Company today
announced a donation of approximately $200,000 to assist with disaster relief
and to aid those who are affected by the tragic earthquake and tsunamis in
South Asia earlier this week.
On behalf of May and its divisions, The May Department Stores Foundation is
donating $150,000 to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent
Societies to assist in its ongoing relief efforts in Sri Lanka and Thailand.
In addition, the May Foundation expects to donate $50,000 through its Matching
Gift Program. The Foundation will match May associates' contributions to the
International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies-Earthquake and
Tsunami Relief.
The May Department Stores Company currently operates 501 department stores
under the names of Famous-Barr, Filene's, Foley's, Hecht's, Kaufmann's, Lord &
Taylor, L.S. Ayres, Marshall Field's, Meier & Frank, Robinsons-May,
Strawbridge's, and The Jones Store, as well as 240 David's Bridal stores, 456
After Hours Formalwear stores, and 11 Priscilla of Boston stores in its Bridal
