                              Director's interests


Gerry Barnett, Sales Director, today exercised options over 105,000 ordinary
shares in the Company and, as notified to the Company, sold those shares at a
price of 150p per share.  The exercise prices were 63.5p and 69p per share in
respect of options over 30,000 ordinary shares held under the Company's Employee
Share Ownership Plan and 75,000 new ordinary shares respectively.

Mr Barnett remains interested in options in respect of 110,000 ordinary shares
in the Company. He also holds 784,593 ordinary shares and, in his capacity as a
trustee, 402,227 ordinary shares (representing 4.74% and 2.43% respectively of
the Company).

Application has been made for 75,000 new ordinary shares to be admitted to the
Official List and admission is expected to become effective on Friday 30 May
2003.
