HTC Crypto-Integrated Phone Will Support LiteCoin
Litecoin founder Charlie Lee tweeted that he had met with the developers of HTC’s new phone Exodus. Initial cryptocurrency support was reported only as Bitcoin and Ethereum, with full support of the Lightning Network. HTC will create a native blockchain network to run on Exodus phones as well. More technical details about the phone’s hardware have not been released. Interested people can join a list for early access to the phone, which is likely to come out by September of this year. HTC’s “Crypto Officer” Phil Chen said the phone will likely be priced comparably to the Sirin Labs Finney at $1,000.
Improvements to Ledger Cold Storage
Ledger makes the most commonly used hardware wallets for cold storage. This is the most secure method to store cryptocurrencies, but can be cumbersome for users when making transactions. "HODL" App - When receiving crypto to the device, users need to type in its wallet address. These are a unique mixture of as many as 36 letters and numbers to type. Doing so incorrectly could lose funds. This new app makes the device appear to a computer as a "virtual keyboard" that types the correct address in by itself. "Recovery Check" App - A 24-word "recovery phrase" is needed to restore balances to any other wallet. This app allows users to confirm they have correctly recorded their recovery phrase. Prior to this a time consuming full reset of the device was required.
NFL Players Association Buys Stake In Blockchain Startup
The NFLPA has a venture capital arm called OneTeam Collective, which has been researching blockchain based organizations as investment options. Recently they decided on a minority stake in FanChain. They see the new platform as an investment and income opportunity for their association members. They will encourage members to provide commentary, livestreams and other content, which earns tokens from the system by creating content for the platform as a whole, or have fans pay them with tokens directly. Players could potentially launch subscription-only streams as well. "I'm a big believer in blockchain and I think it will revolutionize our industry, sports, like it may have revolutionized industries like food.” - Casey Schwab, VP NFLPA Business and Legal Affairs
