Tyrian Diagnostics Limited (ASX:TDX) announced today that the company has completed the manufacture of an initial order of commercial ReadRite® alpha-amylase kits for Bayer CropScience AG, intended to be rolled-out in the North American market. The ReadRite test, which detects alpha-amylase in wheat, performed very well in an independent official evaluation which confirmed the test as a reliable measure for the determination of wheat quality.
This test, formerly referred to as WheatRite, is being marketed in Canada as the ReadRite alpha-amylase test for use with Tyrian’s Reader. The test provides grain industry stakeholders with a rapid, easy to use, and quantitative method for determining the quality of wheat at Point of Need.
“The results of the evaluation and the launch of the ReadRite product is a major accomplishment for Tyrian, and validates our DiagnostIQ™ platform in the agriculture industry,” said Jenny Harry, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of Tyrian Diagnostics. “We have developed a strong working relationship with Bayer CropScience, and we look forward to continued collaboration on this and future products.”
Tyrian will continue to manufacture ReadRite® test kits in house, whilst concurrently establishing outsourced manufacturing of the kits to meet forecast sales increases in North America and other regions.
About ReadRite alpha-amylase test
The ReadRite® alpha-amylase test is a rapid wheat quality test that can be completed in five minutes and enables growers to make an on-farm assessment of the extent of rain damage to a crop in order to separate sound grain from damaged grain. The test is available as a rapid visual test that can be interpreted without instrumentation, or used in conjunction with the ReadRite® Reader to provide a more definitive quantitative result. Rain damage has a significant impact on the pricing of harvested wheat. Grading must be conducted by trading authorities prior to sale and/or export, but also may be performed at multiple points in the chain, from on-farm to wheat processor, to monitor and confirm grain quality.
