Reis, Inc. (AMEX stock symbol WRP), today introduced a suite of major
enhancements to the company’s flagship
product, Reis Subscriber Edition (Reis SE). Reis clients who visit www.reis.com
to view Reis’s Q2 2007 commercial real estate
market findings, which were also released today, will find that their
service has been enhanced as follows: 1) New Construction updates are
now available weekly—instead of quarterly; 2)
New Construction Comps have been added to the company’s
popular Rent Comps and Sales Comps modules; 3) the existing New
Construction report now includes post-construction performance data; and
4) a new Email Alerts service is now available for real-time
notification of sales transactions, new construction activity,
metro-specific Reis narrative reports, and CMBS analyses.
“These enhancements are part of a long-term
development strategy that will add new markets and increase the
frequency of Reis data releases,” says Reis
Chief Operating Officer Bill Sander, noting also that in May the company
expanded into 52 additional apartment markets, bringing Reis’s
total apartment coverage to 134 markets.
The New Construction report provides Reis’s
summary of construction activity at the metro and submarket levels, and
now includes lease-up performance data for projects after they are
completed. The Construction Comps report allows users to view the
nearest twenty planned, proposed, underway, and recently completed
projects surrounding a given address. “Additions
to inventory can have a significant impact on the competitive landscape
within defined geographic areas,” says Reis
Chief Economist Dr. Sam Chandan. “In many of
the nation’s leading markets, current
construction activity will result in a marked increase in completions in
the third and fourth quarters. The Construction Comps report allows
underwriters, developers, and brokers to remain abreast of this activity.”
“The move towards more frequent data releases
created an obvious need for a proactive way to alert users to new or
updated information,” says Sander. The company’s
new Email Alert mechanism lets users establish data filters that will
only alert them of updates that are of interest to them. “By
way of example, a Reis SE user can now establish an email alert for all
sales transactions within a specific set of metros, where sales prices
and cap rates fall within specific ranges.”
