Vita Food Products, Inc. Announces Death of Director Neal T. Jansen

CHICAGO, Feb. 7  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Neal T. Jansen, 68, a member of the Board of Directors of Vita Food Products, Inc. (AMEX:VSF), passed away on Friday, February 3, 2006.

Mr. Jansen has served as a director of the Company since April 1983.  He was a member of the Audit Committee of the Company's Board of Directors.

Mr. Jansen was CEO and Chairman of the Board of Lettieri's, Inc., a manufacturer of authentic Italian foods, from 2002 to August 2003, then served as a member of its board.  Mr. Jansen served as CEO and Chairman of Farm Fresh Catfish Company from 1997 to 2000.  From 1990 to 1996, he served as President and CEO of Pies, Inc. and was a major shareholder until it was sold to Flowers Industries in 1991.  Prior to 1986 he was President of Gordon Fleming and Associates, a food brokerage company in Minnesota, and a Senior Vice President of Red Owl Stores, Inc., a large Midwestern supermarket chain.

The Vita Seafood division is a U.S. leader in the herring and retail packaged salmon markets, and is engaged in several other food segments, including cream cheese, cocktail sauce, tartar sauce and horseradish.
