ATLANTA, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- What: Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will honor one of the most influential directors of the late 20th century and a writer who collaborated on some of the country's most-loved musicals - Robert Altman and Betty Comden, respectively - with a slate of films set to air in December. On Saturday, Dec. 9, TCM will honor Altman, who was best known for his 1970s comedy that had the Korean War as its backdrop, M*A*S*H (1970). But he may be remembered most for six films in a five-year span, including the complex, character-laden drama Nashville (1975) that pushed him to the forefront of American directors. On Wednesday, Dec. 13, TCM will turn its attention to Comden in an already scheduled night of collaborations with Stanley Donen, who is December's TCM Spotlight. Comden was best known for producing, along with Adolph Green, On the Town (1949) and Singin' in the Rain (1952). Together they won five Tony Awards, with three of their shows - Wonderful Town, Hallelujah, Baby! and Applause - earning best musical. When: Saturday, Dec. 9, and Wednesday, Dec. 13. The schedule is as follows: Saturday, Dec. 9 12:30 a.m. Nashville (1975) 3:30 a.m. Brewster McCloud (1970) Wednesday, Dec. 13 8 p.m. On the Town (1949) 10 p.m. Singin' in the Rain (1952) 12 a.m. It's Always Fair Weather (1955) Who: Turner Classic Movies, currently seen in more than 75 million homes, is a 24-hour cable network from Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.
