Teletouch Communications, Inc. (AMEX:TLL), a leader in
wireless messaging, and GPSi, LLC today announced the signing of a
comprehensive dealer agreement aimed at providing cost-effective
fleet-management solutions for small- to mid-sized business and
government vehicle fleets.
Pontiac, Mich.-based GPSi, which operates the Guidepoint(TM)
telematics system, is providing Teletouch with a private-label fleet
management solution to be sold under the VTrax(TM): Powered by
Guidepoint(TM) brand. Teletouch recently began offering the new fleet
solution to its Two-Way Radio Systems commercial and government
customers in Texas, and will begin offering the VTrax products
throughout the country later this month.
The new dealer agreement expands on Teletouch's current
contractual relationship with GPSi to provide response center and
help-desk services for Guidepoint users in the U.S. and Canada.
Guidepoint is a comprehensive technology and service solution for
stolen vehicle recovery, driver safety/convenience and fleet
management that integrates GPS satellites, wireless technology, the
Web and 24/7/365 call centers in the U.S. and Mexico. Teletouch
customers can reach the new fleet services group by calling toll-free,
888-GPS-FIND (888-477-3463), or by logging on to
http://www.teletouch.com/vtrax_login.htm.
The VTrax: Powered by Guidepoint fleet solution is targeted to
small and mid-size enterprises with fleets of 2-to-200 vehicles.
Designed with a "less is more" philosophy, VTrax offers the features
most desired by small fleet operators, including ignition on/off and
history reporting, stop reporting, and location-based tracking. VTrax
delivers a complete tracking solution that fits a variety of business
and government applications, including everything from contractors and
mobile sales forces, to HVAC and delivery services, school districts
and utilities.
Guidepoint's fully digital system operates on the Cingular(R)
GSM/GPRS/Edge nationwide network. Plus, Guidepoint's fleet solution
offers a number of special features, including an optional in-vehicle
panic button, with 24/7/365 response center assistance and stolen
vehicle recovery and emergency support.
"We're pleased to expand our relationship with Teletouch to
provide a cost-effective and feature-rich fleet solution for small- to
mid-sized enterprises, which we feel have been vastly underserved,"
said Rand Mueller, President and CEO of GPSi. "There are literally
thousands of smaller, 2-to-200 vehicle fleets that can achieve
significant and immediate returns on investment through improved asset
management, insurance discounts and the cost-saving benefits of using
a GPS-based solution to manage their fleets."
T. A. "Kip" Hyde, Jr., Teletouch CEO added, "Given recent record
gas prices, many companies and government agencies are taking a
renewed and vigorous look at the use of their fleets, especially with
respect to 'approved' versus 'personal' use. We have seen reductions
of fleet vehicle use by as much as twenty-five percent, once vehicle
tracking systems have been installed. The VTrax product line nicely
complements our broader GPS-based telemetry solutions offering."
