            Appointment Of Non-Executive Director & Chairman Elect



Taylor & Francis Group plc ("Taylor & Francis" or "T&F"), the leading specialist
publisher of scientific, academic and professional journals and books, announced
today the appointment of Don Cruickshank to its Board as a Non-Executive
Director and Chairman elect. Mr Cruickshank will replace Robert Kiernan, the
current Chairman, who will be retiring at the end of March 2004 after more than
five years in the role.



Don Cruickshank was until recently Chairman of the London Stock Exchange and is
currently Chairman of SMG plc. Prior to this he held a number of senior
positions including Director General of the Office of Telecommunications (OFTEL)
and Managing Director roles at both Pearson Longman plc and Virgin Group plc.



Commenting on the appointment, Robert Kiernan said:



"We are delighted to have found someone of Don Cruickshank's calibre to take
over the chairmanship of the company.  Don's broad commercial and boardroom
experience will be invaluable as T&F continues to develop its business.  I wish
