                            Trading update

                       Derby PFI contract win

Synergy Healthcare plc ("Synergy"), a leading provider of outsourced medical
support services within the UK, is pleased to provide an update prior to the
announcement of its interim results.

The company has enjoyed a period of strong trading in the first half and is well
positioned for the year ahead. The "prospect" book is very active at present
within both the Surgical and Healthtex businesses and a continued expansion of
the #230 million forward order book is expected.

The Southern Derbyshire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust announced in early September
that a new hospital would be built in Derby to replace the existing Derby Royal
Infirmary and Derby City General Hospital - this will be the UK's largest PFI
hospital to date.  Synergy has been awarded a 35 year contract (extending an
existing arrangement) under which it will be responsible for the hospital's
sterile services.  This contract together with a contract for linen management
services will have a value of over #2.5 million pa.

Synergy has also moved decisively to capitalise on the recent Department of
Health national scheme for outsourcing Sterile Services to the private sector.
Enhancement of the management team together with the allocation of additional
investment in  IT systems will leave the company well placed to win a share of
this new market.  The Company has been short-listed for the Leeds Bradford
decontamination service, which is the initial pathfinder project under the new
national strategy.  Given the Department of Health's understandable desire to
create a competitive market for services in this important new area the outcome
may not favour Synergy.  Synergy's obvious credibility and leadership in this
market enables the Company to remain focussed on ensuring that it is in position
to win one or more of the next "wave" of five projects due to be announced later
this month.
