Metretek, Incorporated (“Metretek
Florida”), a subsidiary of Metretek
Technologies, Inc. (Amex:MEK), announced that it has received
an order for its flagship DC2000 Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) software
system as well as several thousand of its high performance SIP brand of
cellular based, meter data loggers. The order, valued at approximately
$1.6 million in revenues, is scheduled for delivery during 2007 to a
natural gas distribution company based in Europe.
The system will enable the user to read its entire base of industrial
customer meters within minutes via GSM/EDGE cellular and TCP/IP
technologies and to do this several times a day, thereby facilitating
multiple billing options for its customers. Joseph L. Harley, vice
president of Metretek Florida, noted that the order is from a new client
of the company. “Their decision to purchase
from Metretek Florida is gratifying indeed. We believe it represents
further validation of the merits of our best-in-class energy data
collection systems and the strength of our reputation for value both
inside and outside of North America,” said
Harley.
“While we continue to demonstrate our
competitive strengths in the AMR market segment, the InvisiConnect™
machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions we have derived from AMR products
like the SIP are bringing incremental sales opportunities to us from new
market segments,” Harley added.
Data loggers are typically fitted to complex-tariff based utility meters
for the purpose of remotely, and in near real-time, reading and
transmitting consumption data to a host computer system. When coupled
with Metretek, Incorporated’s DC2000 data
collection and management software system (which features powerful event
notification, web publishing and TCP/IP communication), the Metretek SIP
will deliver a cost-effective, timely and seamless integration of data
into a utility’s enterprise, without the need
for wired communications networks or costly wireless network build-out.
