Kitty Hawk, Inc. (AMEX:KHK) announced today that it has
hired Donald A. Premel as managing director of business development, a
newly-created position, and Randy P. Smith as managing director of
team resources. Smith replaces Kim Wiemuth, who recently accepted a
position as president of a hospitality company.
"Don and Randy possess the right combination of strategic
thinking, senior-level leadership experience and industry savvy we
need to take Kitty Hawk to the next level," said Robert W. Zoller,
president and chief executive officer. "Don will oversee the
development of new, commercially relevant products and services as we
further strengthen our competitive position in the global air freight
market. Randy will play a key role on our strategic planning team as
we face important issues such as organizational development, corporate
training and education and succession planning. We welcome them both
to the Kitty Hawk family"
Prior to joining Kitty Hawk, Premel had served since 1973 as a
director for Continental Airlines' Americas division overseeing its
cargo sales and operations. He was responsible for developing numerous
innovative cargo strategies as well as directing sales and service
personnel in 17 countries throughout North and South America. Prior to
that, Premel served as a director for Continental's express products
where he developed and managed Continental's Global Alliance
Partnership Program with a variety of freight forwarders and logistic
companies.
Smith previously served for eight years in several roles at
CompUSA, most recently as vice president of human resources. Smith
oversaw strategic planning, change management, executive and
organizational development, training, internal communications,
regulatory compliance, diversity and mergers and acquisitions. Prior
to CompUSA, Smith held various human resources positions with
companies in Texas, Illinois and Wisconsin.
Both Premel and Smith will report to Steve Markhoff, vice
president of strategic planning, general counsel and corporate
secretary.
