Answers.com Introduces Citations Tool at NECC
New Feature Discourages Student Plagiarism with Easy-to-Use Bibliography Entry
Creator
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, June 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- GuruNet
Corporation (AMEX:GRU), creators of the Answers.com (http://www.answers.com/)
answer-based search engine, announced the launch of a citations tool as part of
its popular website, at this year's National Educational Computing Conference.
This new feature enables researchers to effortlessly cite the information that
they find at Answers.com, by automatically producing bibliography entries for
the site's collection of over a million topics.
"As Internet plagiarism becomes a more serious issue, both in the workplace and
in our schools, we have incorporated this functionality with the goal of
educating and helping our users cite their work. And as with the rest of our
product, we allow them to do it with just one click," explained Bob
Rosenschein, founder and CEO of GuruNet. "We hope that this tool will be
especially useful for students of all ages, many of whom may believe that
citing someone's work on the Internet requires less diligent citation
discipline than does print."
This new feature consists of a "Cite" button next to each copyright at the
bottom of each Answers.com page. Users can choose the sources that they have
used in their work, click on the button, and be directed to a page with the
fully-formatted citation, ready for copying. Users can even choose from the
MLA, Chicago and "simple" styles.
In addition, visitors to Answers.com's booth (#0146) at the NECC at the
Pennsylvania Convention Center, June 28-30, will receive a free classroom
poster highlighting the guidelines for Web source citation. A personal copy of
the poster is also available for download at
http://www.answers.com/main/citations.jsp.
