eMagin Corporation (AMEX:EMA), a leader in personal
display systems, has released its first planned update to the software
developer's kit (SDK) for its award winning Z800 3DVisor(TM) available
to game and simulation developers. The company also indicated that
they plan to update the SDK with additional features on a monthly
basis.
With the additions made available this week, eMagin's SDK provides
developers with support for all languages in the .Net platform, such
as C# and VB.net, and support for multiple devices simultaneously
connected to the game PC.
The update includes electronic documentation with a searchable
index for .Net developers as well as more extensive documentation and
code samples. With these additions, developers will be able deliver 3D
viewing through emerging Internet VR programs as well as support
multiple views. In addition, the SDK enables a broader range of access
to headtracker controls through multiple devices. The game would
effectively gather and respond to data coming from both the mouse or
controller and the head units. In flight simulators, a "pilot" can
scan the horizon from side to side while maintaining his flight
pattern.
"We plan to provide updates and additional features to game
developers every four to five weeks," said Susan Jones, executive vice
president and chief marketing officer, eMagin Corporation. "As
developers take advantage of these capabilities, they can enhance the
gaming experience for their players - make the game more real and let
the gamer respond to the action instinctually - taking them beyond the
flat 2D screen and function keys into a more immersive gaming
experience."
The Z800 3DVisor and SDK are compatible with the Microsoft Windows
XP operating system. The SDK is available free for developers who
register on the eMagin website,

eMagin's Z800 3DVisor delivers a high-color, high-contrast virtual
image equivalent to a 105-inch screen viewed at twelve feet, in
full-color stereovision. The Z800's high-speed headtracking enables
full 360-degree viewing, enabling users to look around in the virtual
world just as they would look around the real world. Completing the
near-immersive experience is an integrated, audio system with stereo
earbuds and a noise-canceling microphone. To power all these
capabilities, the Z800 requires only a standard USB port and can
greatly extend a laptop's battery life when it's used instead of the
standard LCD laptop screen.
The eMagin Z800 3DVisor is available now for $899 MSRP from
