Eagle Broadband, Inc. (AMEX: EAG), a leading provider of
broadband, Internet protocol (IP) and communications technology and
services, announced the deployment of its SatMAX(TM) product by
Textron Systems as part of a Department of Defense program.
Textron purchased Eagle's non-line of sight satellite
communications technology last November, and will use the SatMAX
system in a fully wireless, indoor facility requiring
non-line-of-sight satellite communications and wireless mobility with
the Iridium satellite communication network. The reliable voice and
data satellite communications made possible by SatMAX will provide
uninterrupted communications in a safe, secure environment in order to
ensure mission effectiveness.
"We are pleased to be a part of this Textron Systems' DOD program
and are eager to help Textron Systems and their military customers
leverage the Iridium network capabilities from within a non-line-of
site environment," said Dave Micek, Eagle Broadband President and CEO.
"We all look forward to the successful implementation of the initial
system and are confident that it will prove valuable to Textron
Systems' efforts as the program is expanded."
Eagle's exclusive SatMAX non-line-of-sight satellite
communications technology enables military, homeland security,
intelligence community, and other civilian government and enterprise
customers to quickly and easily make reliable, fully wireless, voice
and data communications available from any non-line-of-site location,
including inside buildings or structures, onboard vehicles, aircraft
or ships, from obstructed areas, etc. With SatMAX, users of the
Iridium satellite network can operate their existing satellite phones
and make multiple concurrent calls within SatMAX-enabled "hotspot"
areas from any location on Earth. The technology enables routine,
mission critical and backup communications that can improve safety and
security, emergency preparedness and response, user productivity,
mobility, problem solving and mission support.
