CHAIRMAN'S AGM STATEMENT
At today's Annual General Meeting of Conister Trust PLC held in Douglas, Isle of
Man, the Executive Chairman, Peter Hammonds, will report that the first quarter
performance of the Company has been challenged in several of its markets as a
result of both increased competition and domestic and international economic
uncertainty. This has led to some downward pressure on margins; however, volumes
were up on the same quarter in 2002.
The Board's response has been to control the growth in operating costs and to
seek to exploit, where possible, new income streams. Some of these should come
on to the book during the second half of the year.
It is currently expected that the Interim Dividend in respect of the half-year
ending 30 June 2003 will be maintained at 0.3p per share.
