FRANKLIN PARK, Ill., March 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A. M. Castle & Co. (AMEX:CAS), one of North America's leading metals and plastics distributors, announced today that the Company has filed an extension notification with the SEC for its Annual Report on Form 10-K until March 31, 2006. "Early adoption of FAS 123R-Accounting for Stock-Based Compensation, has developed into a more cumbersome task than we anticipated," said Larry Boik, Vice President of Finance and CFO. "Retrospective adoption requires us to reflect stock option expensing in our financial statements for all prior periods reported within our current year 10-K filing. Additionally, related footnotes and other disclosures must be updated. The shear magnitude of the task has placed a very large workload on our staff, leading to the need for additional time to complete our 10-K filing and for our auditor's to complete the audit," continued Boik. The Company released its fourth quarter and full year 2005 financial results (which include the effect of the early adoption of FAS 123R) on Monday, March 13th, 2006.
