A. M. Castle & Co. Elects McCartney as Chairman of the Board and Announces New Board Member

FRANKLIN PARK, Ill., Jan. 30  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A. M. Castle & Co. (AMEX:CAS), a leading global distributor of specialty metal and plastic products, value-added services and supply chain solutions, announced today that the Board of Directors elected John McCartney to the position of Chairman of the Board.  Mr. McCartney has been a member of Castle's Board since 1998 and replaces G. Thomas McKane as Chairman.  Mr. McKane, who has elected to not stand for re-election this year, will continue to serve on the Board until the annual shareholders' meeting on April 26, 2007, at which time he will fully retire.  These actions are part of the Company's ongoing succession plan process which began a year ago.

In other actions, the Board elected Ann M. Drake to the Company's Board of Directors on January 25, 2007.  Ms. Drake has been the C.E.O. of DSC Logistics, Inc., a privately-held supply chain management company which provides services in logistics center management, transportation management, business process integration and related knowledge-based services for over ten years.  She has served as a board member of several other companies including Plymouth Tube, a metal tubing manufacturer.  Ms. Drake is a graduate of the University of Iowa and has her MBA from Northwestern University.
