                     Appointment of non-executive director

The board of Alexon Group plc ("Alexon") is pleased to announce the appointment
of John Herbert as a non-executive director with effect from 1 January 2004.

John, aged 66, was founder and, until recently, Managing Director of John
Herbert Partnership, a design consultancy which specialises in retail design and
development for a wide range of high street retailers.

There are no details required to be disclosed under Rule 16.4 of the Listing
Rules.
