Astrapi Corporation continues to grow its pioneering patent portfolio driving spectrally-efficient communication

DALLAS, June 30, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Astrapi Corporation is pleased to announce that the United States Patent and Trade Office (USPTO) has issued Astrapi U.S. Patent Application No: 16/116,368, "Spiral Polynomial Division Multiplexing". This patent has profound implications for addressing exponentially-growing data transfer demands. Spectrum demand has been further amplified by COVID-19 as people are forced to shelter-in-place and demand for remote learning, online gaming, streaming video, telemedicine, and video conferencing puts increasing stress on communication networks.

This patent protects a fundamentally new technology, Instantaneous Spectral Analysis (ISA), which enables the transfer of much more data through a given amount of bandwidth (frequency range) than was previously thought possible. It does so by using advanced mathematics to fully exploit the capabilities of a continuously non-stationary spectrum, bypassing an implicit assumption in classical channel capacity theory that the spectrum is at least approximately stationary.

Jerrold Prothero, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of Astrapi said, "The foundational nature of our innovation is very exciting: we are making a fundamental improvement right at the core physical layer of the communications stack. As such, the innovation has very broad implications across the multi-trillion-dollar telecommunications industry. Our ISA technology directly supports meeting the continuing explosive stress on communication networks. And our patent position means that Astrapi will be central to providing this unique solution for decades. This new patent, our 1tth domestic patent, is issued as Astrapi completes development on its second generation SDR modem, permitting demonstration of the technology in hardware. More patents are pending and we have international coverage as well."

Astrapi's Spiral Modulation, of which ISA is a part, has profound implications for how the bandwidth crisis can be addressed by dramatically improving spectral efficiency and by systematically improving how telecommunications network operators send/receive signals. These demonstrated improvements will increase the value of spectrum and enable operators to meet exploding demand more economically than through expensive additional spectrum acquisition, infrastructure upgrades, or acquiring further transponder access.

ABOUT Astrapi Corporation
Astrapi is the pioneer of spiral-based signal modulation, which opens an unexplored area for innovation at the core of telecommunications. Based on a generalization of Euler's formula, the foundational mathematics for telecom, Astrapi provides fundamentally new ways to design the symbol waveforms used to encode digital transmissions. By applying new mathematics to signal modulation, Astrapi is able to improve the trade-off between the four fundamental parameters in telecommunications: bandwidth, signal power, data throughput, and error rate. The resulting efficiency translates into higher spectral performance with more bits available at a lower cost.
