CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 11, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/
-- Satellogic, the first company to develop a scalable Earth
observation platform with the ability to remap the entire planet at
both high-frequency and high-resolution, today announced that
Thomas VanMatre and Matthew Tirman have joined the Satellogic
leadership team.
Thomas VanMatre, former Director
of International Business Development at Maxar, will serve as
Satellogic's Vice President of Global Business Development.
Matthew Tirman, former Head of
Government Business at Descartes labs, joins Satellogic as Head of
Satellogic North America.
"We are thrilled to welcome Tom and Matt to Satellogic. As we
continue to cement our position as the global leader in
high-resolution, high-frequency geospatial analytics, we aim to
work closer than ever with our customers to deliver actionable
insights that they can trust," said Emiliano Kargieman, CEO of
Satellogic. "Throughout their respective careers, Tom and Matt have
contributed significant value throughout the geospatial analytics
value chain. Their knowledge and experience serving government and
commercial customers will play a central role in Satellogic's
expansion and growth."
Thomas VanMatre brings 20 years
of experience in leading teams in geospatial solutions,
international defense policy and defense diplomacy and product
development to Satellogic. As the Director of International
Business Development at Maxar, he was responsible for formulating
and executing the company's international growth strategy across
government verticals. In his 12-year tenure with the National
Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), he worked in both the US and
Australia to deliver geospatial
intelligence to policymakers, diplomats, warfighters and first
responders. Together with his team, VanMatre was awarded the
Australian Intelligence Community Medallion for outstanding
achievement in countering terrorism.
In his role as Satellogic's Vice President of Global Business
Development, VanMatre will cultivate new international
partnerships, as well as deepen Satellogic's existing global
partnerships. Additionally, VanMatre will execute against
Satellogic's international go-to-market strategy and lead their
corporate social responsibility program.
"Not only has Satellogic developed new technologies with
remarkable capabilities, they have also embraced a novel way of
doing business that is driving the industry forward," said
VanMatre. "Currently, supply cannot meet the global demand for
geospatial data and insights, but that is about to change. With
more in-orbit capacity than any other company in the industry, and
a clear strategy for developing our capabilities moving forward,
Satellogic is finally unlocking the promise and potential of
geospatial insights at scale for both government and commercial
applications. I'm honored to be joining such an ambitious team,
especially at such an exciting moment in the company's growth."
Matthew Tirman has over 17 years
experience growing software and service businesses across the US,
EMEA and Asia in government and
commercial markets. In his former position as Head of Government
for Descartes Labs, Tirman was responsible for the overall
profitability, management and growth of the company's work with the
US and friendly foreign governments. Under his leadership,
Descartes Labs grew customers across the US Air Force, Combatant
Commands, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency and the
Department of State. Tirman has previously led two technology
businesses through successful exits and also served as an analyst
for the US Department of Defense on cooperative R&D projects
and as a speechwriter for senior military leadership in
Washington D.C. and Baghdad, Iraq.
As Head of Satellogic North America, Tirman will be responsible
for Satellogic's sales, partnerships and customer delivery across
commercial and government clients in the North American market.
"We're at an inflection point where both the United States government and commercial
markets are recognizing the strategic and economic advantages of
high-resolution commercial satellite imagery to deliver actionable
insights," said Tirman. "No longer is it necessary to rely entirely
on exquisite satellites for strategy-defining insights. Satellogic
is demonstrating that there's another way forward — one that allows
customers to constantly and consistently have access to the newest
imaging capabilities, while also prioritizing reliability and
high-resolution throughput from the outset. I'm excited to be
joining a team that is literally redefining what we thought was
possible when it came to geospatial imagery and analytics."
Tirman and VanMatre join Satellogic after three successful
launches in 2020 and the recent announcement of Satellogic's new
MLA agreement with SpaceX. Today, Satellogic leads the industry in
in-orbit capacity and enables access of up to four daily revisits
of any point of interest and the collection of more than 4 million
sq. km per day in high-resolution data for a broad range of
customers. Satellogic's robust capacity and the industry experience
of VanMatre and Tirman signal a new and exciting phase in
Satellogic's growing relationship with the US government,
international governments and commercial partners.
Founded in 2010, Satellogic is a global company with more than
200 employees and offices in Charlotte, Miami, Barcelona, Buenos
Aires, Córdoba, Montevideo,
Beijing and Tel Aviv.
