If you could only buy shares in one company, what would it be?

We tend to invest across a portfolio, in that regard we don't give personal advice on individual companies. But one of the companies that we're quite upbeat about at the moment is a company called Zotefoams (ZTF), it's involved in foam manufacture both in the UK and in the US. Alongside that, for many years, it's been incubating a new business alongside it called MuCell, which is now reaching maturity and will actually add to the profits growth in the future. A combined business we think could actually be quite exciting over the coming years.

N+1 Singer have commented as follows FYI:

"Zotefoams's new plant in the U.S. will alleviate the current capacity tension in the company's polyolefins unit, N+1 Singer says. Construction work at the facility has been completed and a handover to manufacturing is expected in February, the producer of high-end plastic foam materials said. The U.S. plant is expected to feed increased demand for Zotefoams's products, as the company plans to expand its Zotek foam range capacity this year, N+1 Singer notes. There are also increased opportunities in the high-performance products segment, following the company's partnership with Nike last month, the brokerage adds. Shares trade 1.4% higher at 460 pence"

Yep - a good positive update, but in reality doesn't tell us anything material that they hadn't already told us. Unsurprising therefore to see little movement in the share price.

I still don't know what the range of market expectations is ; I believe the average EPS forecast is 15.4p but no idea of the range.

More interesting though I expect will be when we start to get updates to the 2018 forecasts (current concensus 2018 EPS is 17.9p which I personally think is a little light.)

From such a conservative management team to see such a confident statement reflects the visibility they must have in each business segment. This is more exciting than ever

Zotefoams is pleased to report continued strong trading through to the end of the year, continuing the trend of the first three quarters.

· Full year revenues expected to be ahead of current market expectations

· Adjusted profit before tax and exceptional items for the year ending 31 December 2017 expected to be at the top end of the range of market expectations

· US plant construction completed, commissioning has begun with expected hand-over to manufacturing in February

The Company expects to announce preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2017 on Tuesday 13 March 2018.

Cheers shauney2, that's encouraging - "the combined business could be quite exciting over the coming years".

Happy New Year to you and everyone here - 2018 should be another good year for ZTF.

Yes hopefully there will be a bit more of a steer on the Nike tie up (potential scale, when likely to deliver material income etc.) as it is potentially BIG but we really don't know.

Having looked a bit further, the 12m investment into HPP production in Croydon looks pretty significant.

Whilst it is not a like for like comparison by any means the Segmental analysis in the annual report showed only £12m assets associated with the HPP segment.

Lots of puts and takes (none of which I can quantify) to be able to make a comparison, but at a very superificial level this could be doubling or more their HPP capacity.

Or am I barking?

Bought my first ZTF today. Had them on my monitor for a while... ...and obviously in retrospect wish I had bought earlier.

They certainly look interesting and I would like to think there will be broker upgrades going forward as their ongoing investments in new products and production growth drive increased sales and profitability.

More good news today. It's significant that this investment is on the back of "strong customer interest", with demand expected to "continue to grow significantly".

It all sounds so positive:

"Our pipeline of opportunities to sell higher margin HPP materials is developing very positively and, with strong customer interest in our products, we believe that now is the right time to invest in increased manufacturing capacity to support our future growth."

Thx for the interesting article bb2.

I would agree with you janeann if we had been told anything about it. Either the ZTF product is very good and sportswear manufacturers have been fighting over it, or it's not but marketing smoke and mirrors plus exclusivity and the Nike name provide a new niche. Where is the information? We cannot know the benefits and perhaps ZTF doesn't either.
