22/7/2011 08:13 | Finncap CEO Sees Out Of Favor Sectors Leading The Way By Tommy Stubbington Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES LONDON (Dow Jones)--The chief executive of smallcap broker Finncap expects a trio of sectors that have been out of favor with investors in recent years to lead the way for fundraisings and takeovers amongst small companies, while the overall environment for initial public offerings remains tough.............. In the technology sector, Smith said high quality products and services, particularly those that help customers cut costs, will be able to raise funds. "If someone's got new software that can save people money, it doesn't really matter what happens in the wider economy. There's a big appetite for those stocks," she added. | olly94

01/7/2011 08:17 | zoos piracy patents went up for auction in march..dont know the outcome though Protection of Copyright Audiovisual Media Available For Purchase at Spring Auction 2011 Seller: Zoo Digital Limited Sector: Data Encryption Assets: US Patent - 3; Other Patents - 4; Applications - 16 US Patents: 7,574,1177,702,215 7,912,351 Other Patents: GB 2402541; GB 2402542; GB 2402543; JP 4542089 Applications: US 11/687489; US 11/972955; US 12/966384; US 60/480322; US 60/880129; EP 20040736213; EP 20040736214; EP 20040736223; GB 20030012874; GB 20070000668; JP 20060508396; JP 20060508397; JP 20100002788; PCT/GB04/02388; PCT/GB04/02394; PCT/GB04/02416 Description: This lot discloses methods of protecting audiovisual content that involve obscuring the data or taking the original data and making modifications whereby the original data is divided into a number of cells from which multiple playback paths are created, only one of which will reproduce the content correctly, thereby effectively obscuring the original data. These methods can be applied, for example, to obstruct DVD ripping software and to enhance copy protection of audiovisual media. Audiovisual content is regularly recorded onto random access media such as DVDs and hard drives. While these random access media have many advantages in terms of size, data capacity, playback speed and image quality, they also pose a disadvantage as they allow relatively easy copying of stored audiovisual content without authorization. While conventional copy-protection features are effective in protecting data from average customers, "reverse engineers" can easily defeat these systems. To counter this problem, a method or apparatus is needed to obscure the data within audiovisual content to limit unauthorized accessing or copying. The technology described in this lot protects audiovisual content by modifying the original data (typically, the data structures and files prepared for a DVD-Video title) to create multiple playback paths, only one of which will reproduce the content in the correct manner. One embodiment of this invention discloses a method for creating audiovisual content by dividing the audiovisual data into a plurality of cells and creating a multitude of sequence instructions, with each instruction representing a sequence for playing the cells back in a specified order, the correct instruction being hidden among the incorrect ones. This method is effective in obstructing or significantly slowing down the operation of ripping software programs. The portfolio also includes methods for data access control, for example inputting the correct access code during the play-back of audiovisual content, preferably via a keypad or remote control, allows an authorized user to view the protected original audiovisual content. Another embodiment of this invention is a method to assign only one correct sequence instruction to reproduce the audiovisual content within a plurality of incorrect sequence instructions. These unlocking methods are useful in controlling unauthorized data copying and preventing free and unfettered access to audiovisual content. The patents in this lot have been cited by significant industry giants, including Sony and Rovi Corporation. Global piracy affects a wide range of digital content, as websites offering pirated digital content and counterfeit goods generate more than 53 billion visits per year.(1) It is estimated that the annual worldwide economic impact of online piracy and counterfeiting reaches $200 billion.(1) This lot should be of interest to entities involved in content distribution and management, video hosting, and digital data management. | magnetincognito

21/6/2011 08:15 | 21 June 2011 21 June 2011 ZOO DIGITAL GROUP PLC ("ZOO" or "the Group") ZOO Targets eBook and music industries ZOO, the provider of workflow management software and services for creative media production, is pleased to announce that, following the success of its iTunes production toolset, it has identified further opportunities within the Electronic Sell Through ("EST") market, specifically with regards to electronic books and the music industry. Since announcing in September 2010 the availability of its toolset for iTunes production, ZOO has been working with a number of film studios, including Warner Bros., to adapt video content for sale through Apple's iTunes store and has expanded the range of services it offers to content owners for EST production. As a result of this, and given the success of the electronic books market, ZOO has augmented its Media Collaboration platform to include an eBook Builder which provides an efficient and cost-effective way for publishers to repurpose traditional books for sale online, across a wide range of genres including picture books, comics, travel guides, cookery books and reference publications. This new tool works in conjunction with ZOO's software for managing collaborative workflows, adapting materials into multiple languages, and providing storage and distribution of content for multiple eBook vendors. ZOO has begun working with a number of traditional publishers in the US and Europe to enable high quality adaptations of existing products for sale online. According to a recent report from Futuresource Consulting, in 2010 the eBook market grew by more than 200% to a value of more than US$900m. Another area of development for ZOO is in the music industry, where publishers are beginning to promote their products with value-added materials using Apple's iTunes LP format. iTunes LP and iTunes Extras are interactive experiences created to accompany music and movies. iTunes LP lets listeners hear an album and view lyrics, liner notes, band photos, performance videos, and more. ZOO has created an Interactive Content Editor to enable the efficient preparation of these and other EST packages to which iTunes LP support has been added. Initial customers include a number of music publishers in the US, UK and France. According to Strategy Analytics, digital music revenues in 2012 will reach US$2.8 billion and surpass physical sales for the first time. Stuart Green, CEO of ZOO commented: "The Electronic Sell Through market is clearly one of the most exciting developments in recent history for all forms of media sales, and we're delighted to be playing an increasing role. The incredible growth in the electronic books market has been well documented of late and we believe that there are also substantial opportunities within the music industry." Looks good to me | ron64

01/6/2011 17:17 | No figures on what the new deal is worth, but it broadens ZOO's customer base. Also, if it deserves an RNS, it's obviously significant. Roll on, with some figures "in June" we can base the share price on. | napoleon 14th
