01/6/2011 17:17 | No figures on what the new deal is worth, but it broadens ZOO's customer base. Also, if it deserves an RNS, it's obviously significant. Roll on, with some figures "in June" we can base the share price on. | napoleon 14th

18/4/2011 21:42 | Posted by Rosalind Newcomb 2nd april During the Bologna Book Fair, I walked past a stand that immediately caught my eye. It was one of the few stands that displayed only digital products. On display was a selection of e-book readers: the ipad, the kindle, the sony reader and the nook. The company was Zoo Digital. Zoo Digital is a London based company with its counterpart in CA, USA. When talking to one of their representatives, it was explained that Zoo Digital works to output numerous digital formats that can be used on a wide range of e-readers and tablet reading devices by using an 'automated production workflow'. What was most interesting was when the Media Adaption Tool (MAT) was explained. The company gets sent design files (mostly InDesign files or QuarkExpress files) and all the details from the files are put into a Translation Management System (TMS). The TMS automatically formats and applies localized layouts to generated translation requests and outputs them to e-books in various formats. Coming across Zoo Digital made the concepts of chapter headings, story text, title treatments, captions, copyright details and metadata, those that we have been currently learning, extremely relevant. The company works with these multiple layers to apply local layouts to foreign translations. The other aspect that we have been learning, the separation of content from style, came into 'real-life play' here. Zoo Digital archives all the foreign content for later use so that the content can be either replaced or new illustrations and styles can be used. All the files are set up so that they can receive variable content. | magnetincognito

18/4/2011 17:59 | It does seem to have gone a bit quiet on the MPS front and not obvious on progress of the 24th November report comment "...we hope to be able to announce our first joint customer project in the near future". Hmmmm. I remain optimistic - as ever. DYOR etc. Good luck all. | bodgit
16/4/2011 09:21 | magnetincognito, thanks for those. My recent 'impulse' purchase of ZOO was not well timed! Hey ho. I am LTBH these anyway so in the greater scheme of things, it does not matter - just so long as..... Good luck all. | bodgit

13/4/2011 14:07 | just read the trading update, agree it was slightly below what was anticipated, but i think things will improve somewhat during the summer months, by the way i noticed reading it through that Some non-core outsourced services were now being invoiced to the client directly by a third party, i think that might well be hudsonyards, will wait till results late june, if it follows last summers trend we could get another march upwards, i'm not too despondent as things stand at the moment, | magnetincognito
13/4/2011 06:25 | Hmmmm. Good luck all. | bodgit
13/4/2011 06:21 | Diappointing Trading Statement to say the least. share price back down to 20p onthe way, I am afraid. | cosh285
07/4/2011 09:06 | magnetincognito, thanks again for your continuing research. Much appreciated. ZOO again have nearly slipped off every radar screen around it seems! I remain optimistic and the 'warm words' of Clynton Hunt are encouraging but frankly I have not a clue whether ZOO have a chance of establishing a major and financially rewarding presence in the eBooks arena. Time will tell I guess. Good luck all. | bodgit
06/4/2011 20:04 | ZOO to Exhibit at The London Book Fair 2011 5 April 2011 ZOO Digital announces that it will be exhibiting at the London Book Fair 2011. After a very successful Bologna Children's Book Fair, ZOO is excited to be able to demonstrate its range of production solutions to publishers, authors and agents attending the 2011 London event. Of particular focus will be ZOO's eBook production solutions which produce the highest possible quality output, across multiple formats, in as many languages as a publisher or author might be interested in, all from a single source layout. "We have been seeing tremendous interest in a variety of eBook formats, from standard ePubs right through to enhanced, multimedia iBooks", said Clynton Hunt, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. "Many publishers are still trying to decide what route to take in digital publishing, however, they are all in agreement that it is a publishing category where they need a presence. Publishers are also very pleasantly surprised by the support that is now possible for illustrated eBooks and by the fact that ZOO can manage the entire production process for them". ZOO Digital will be demonstrating production solutions and showing a range of output on the industry's leading devices at stand E380, April 11 to 13, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London. | magnetincognito

According to a report in The Holland Sentinel the expansion is part of a $5.3m project that will also see the firm add capacity at its digital imaging facility in nearby Allegan. 16/3/2011 10:41 | i agree it just helps to fill in the gaps, the mps negotiations are taking a long time,i thought we would have heard something by now, but its a large expanding company and the contracts could be substantial given time, "money wise" | magnetincognito
16/3/2011 08:57 | Thanks for that magnetincognito. I guess it is 'small beer' news to warrant an RNS from ZOO? Good luck all. | bodgit
