To be fair regarding the fall in GGP shares, Steve4077, gold mining shares have been under the cosh during 2021/2022. Look no further than GPM, an investment trust investing primarily in gold miners. It's share price is almost half it's 2020 high. Gold miners are a geared play on the gold price.

What an idiot, the GGP management are trying to develop the mine, completely different strategy, our management don't want to do that and want to sell it. The "decision to mine" is simply a step towards selling the project.

"But NCM has GGP over a barrel, having farmed in to get its current 70% controlling stake". Haha, hence why CB doesn't want to do a farm-in, if you had been listening to his interviews you would know this.

Those looking for how the deal will probably end up should look at how KIW went, cash and share offer from FQM.

AA are paying a nice 6% divi now.

We are the shareholders on here, who wants a sale to AA for cash and shares at many multiples of the share price? And who wants whatever Lurker is trying to talk about:))

So you are choosing a company that ended up massively over-valued and 40-bagged as a cautionary tale? :) I hope we do as badly as GGP.

Those interested in true likely outcome should look closely at GGP/NCM upcoming attempt to agree a value for GGP's 5% stake in Havieron - due in next few weeks, and will go to arbitration (valmin code ?) if can't agree. Lots of lessons (which the Count won't be interested in). Firstly a big difference between the two re assumptions behind pre-feasibility studies by each party (leading to 100% difference in their estimates of NPV) Second, NCM is being accused of likelyhood it will ignore drilling results after early 2021 (the start of PFS) and therefore of the scope to increase the value. Reserves taken account of in the PFS are 1.6Moz Au and 73,000 t cu. (400,000 t cu equivalent) 'In ground value' at current prices (GGP and NCM disagree what to use) is $3.6bn of which GGP's 5% being haggled over is £180m. Will be interesting to see what % of that NCM will propose. It should be a high number (not a guide for Bushranger) to reflect the plan to truck Havieron's ore to keep NCM's Telfer mine operating, as well as that it is a 'reserve' as opposed to a 'resource'. Even so GGP's share price looks to be in fantasy land - a $700m market cap against the $100m that its full 20% share of Havieron's NPV would be.
GGP investors are hoping that NCM will be generous, and allow for the significant further potential that more recent drilling has thrown up at Havieron. But NCM has GGP over a barrel, having farmed in to get its current 70% controlling stake. Unlike GGP, XTR has its shareholders in control if they want to be - to stop any such nonsense by AA. (But we know that the Count knows best and won't be bothered). Other shareholders certainly will though.

Being one of the "sans culottes" is not good. I gave it up years ago.

Stuff happens and if this goes pear shaped you may well stay one of the masses.

The "Chateau d`if" is working for other people, that's what I want to escape from.

Yes, patience is key, the sitting and waiting can be where people lose/make the most.

That`s the beauty here. We only have wait a few months for the end game so we need to watch the assays and listen to Colin.

Escaping from Chateau d`if was a risky business but it paid off and led to great riches, not to mention revenge. I was not suggesting a massive dilution. I have less than 10 in my portfolio. While the failure of one stock that you know is probably unlikely, stuff happens and a few might just help you survive and even leave the world of work. It might even please your Mum and that`s no bad thing.

Brasso I`m looking for £1 a share given the projected resource and hopefully quality results from Ascot
I would like to buy more but must await those results.

As I said a few weeks ago. I feel like most investors have taken their position here now so do not see many sellers coming forth at these prices (7p). I think anyone who knows the story here will now have their personal targets in the range of 10p - 20p in the next 3 - 6 months. Some will wait right until the end game (AA buy back) and may be looking at 20p - 30p targets. Its going to be an interesting 6 months here...

I`m glad that you gave it some thought and even though you have your own path I had to try. Who knows it might just help others.

Good luck- but I doubt if you would accept such a notion preferring hard work and lots of research.

Arcadian, thanks that's nice of you, my mum has been telling me the same thing since last year the less she knows the better. She is very risk averse:) I also got her into XTR. I will definitely be reducing my holding if/when AA purchase the project for multiples of the current sp:)

It's all about ones level of risk, which is a combination of ones personal financial situation, emotional and psychological set of thoughts. Most people have been instructed from an early age to spread risk, to diversify, which is all good advice, but if one really wants to speculate and do it successfully and to significantly increase their wealth they have to take calculated and focused investments and make large 'bets' when they believe they are right. Then they need to have the courage of their convictions and buy and hold even when the stock takes a down turn, as it did with XTR this summer. I hate to use the gambling terminology because it makes what we are doing sound like little thought or calculation has been invested in our decision making processes.

It's quite funny really, investing is quite often going against the herd and the usual human thoughts that make up most peoples opinions, for example when people sell their best investments to "take profits" only to invest those profits back into their weaker holdings which do not perform as well. Meanwhile the stock they sold continues to increase in value and go up. Had they have done the opposite, which would have been to both hold the shares and also purchase more they would have been significantly more correct and if you are correct the outcome is that you increase your wealth. Another example, I know for sure most people in my situation when I have been 100% in XTR at various times since before the first Bushranger drill would have been worrying or losing sleep over the amount and focus of their holding, whereas the only think I have been worrying about is being cash poor and trying to save 80% of my salary each month to continue purchasing stock. When you believe you are right you have to back yourself. It is the same now, I am worrying because I can see stocks which are very cheap right now, it's only a matter of 'when' they will go up and not 'if', but I can't take part in that appreciation of the stock because I do not have funds and I am reluctant to sell the stocks I have. Sometimes you just have to miss out on opportunities because you do not have funds available.

I was trying to find someone who has the same thought process as me, the below quotes sum it up perfectly. This is how people build real wealth. You only need to be right a few times.

“Diversification may preserve wealth, but concentration builds wealth.”

"A lot of great fortunes in the world have been made by owning a single wonderful business. If you understand the business, you don't need to own very many of them."

GS, if they liquidate the intercompany account XTR will have the where with all to start to develop the other tennements. It will depend on whether the team want to work on .... who could blame them.

Hi TD I copied and pasted your post from the 5th re sale of asset over on lse to see what kind of response it would get. General chat was a bit muted, but good post anyway btw
I would hope to retain exploration rights to other tenements but feel is not likely. Paid a million, what is their worth now a multi mineralised multi porphry system is evident next door.

hmm, I agree with GS, why go to your second or third pref. I am in at 100%.

You always have to be careful but my position is thought through and I made the most of the '3p gifts' to have a low average entry.

CMC had an interesting point earlier about payment in shares. I had always assumed it would be cash but no harm in some element being a share swap.

Btw Anglo closed up 3.15% today. I make that about £1.4bn on their MCAP taking it to £45.3bn....

Also thanks Steve for pointing out they have been buying back their own shares for months.

H202 pointed out RNS "Anglo American plc ("Anglo American") announces its intention to return an additional $2 billion to its shareholders through: (i) an on-market irrevocable and non-discretionary share buyback programme of $1 billion (the "Buyback Programme"); and (ii) a special dividend of $0.80 per ordinary share, equal to $1 billion (the "Special Dividend").

GeorgeJ and others asking the question - what else could we suggest they spend their surplus funds on to sustain and grow their business ????
