Needs some guidance on those softening market outlooks Robbie, the growth rate has slowed by quite a margin over the last two quarters. Looking forward to Mondays statement and outlook update.

Nice piece in Inteligent Investor today, three brokers with targets ranging from 11.50 to 20.00. Will post more later if I get time. Forcasts of revenue just over £100 million from Peel Hunt, Westhouse Securities and Edison Investment Research.

Seems like this one has been on my watchlist forever.

I was looking keenly forward to the last TS and when it came i was most surprised by the negative tone as things really looked on track in all other respects.

The market reaction and then the chart really said "time to buy" to me so I dipped my toe.

What has been unexpected is the way the price has reated just the last few days. TBH I though we'd see a slow bowl-like recovery in the price - which I felt might co-incide with the N.American economic recovery also. So this sudden spike does slightly smack of some early heads up on the results.

Volume is hardly spectacular.

Nice pop for this one today assuming it holds to the end.

Not before time.

I didnt think it too bad an update. I have 2000 shares purchased at an average of 250p so quite happy. I should have sold a few when in the high teens, c'est la vie, but happy to hold for a cracking yield. The company is well run and well placed imv.

I've held my 1000 holding; sorry for saying this was going to £20- fool.
Edison have 106.8p for this year, 99.3p for next; not a bad yield fwiw.

I sold yesterday as I just didn't have the nerve to hold for the results. With sentiment the way it is, and so much downward momentum on the charts - I suspected any negatives would trigger selling.

But, I still beleive it likely that too much negative news is being priced in as I don't beleive the global economy is headed for savage recession. My personal view is that the current dip will be mild.

Need some evidence of a bottom on the charts though really - buying in now is just too risky.. It may take months for sentiment to improve. Or, one day there may some good news, a massive leap in the charts - and I will have missed my chance!!

Yes, after much consideration I've also sold my holdings this morning for quite a big loss. Although overall on XPP I've made some considerable amounts. I've been going against all my usual rules with this one over the last 12 months or so as I strongly believe it's a really well run company and will have no problem with getting back in at a later date. The fact is, even with the few recent positive moves in the market over the last few months, XPP has just failed to join in and seems firmly rooted on a downward trend. Some nice divi's but sadly not enough at the moment when there are some other company's showing some good signs of growth potential and an active share price.

Good luck to all holders, as the big man says "I'll be back"!

Indeed, a profit warning and I've sold the vast majority of my position as a result. The open question in my mind was the degree of correlation XPP had to the world economy: while there's a good underlying growth story, the answer from the trading update is quite a bit. When the world turns around, XPP will be in a very good place with a low-cost production base, but while the clouds are darkening, I'm happy to sit on the sidelines.

Aleks..agreed, although not a disaster, it is indeed a profit warning.

JayQ...the last two quarters have seen declining revenue, this is set to continue into 2012 for the first quarter and most likely beyond. The net debt has been fluctuating around the 19 -20m area for some time, I thought it was slightly lower from last update if I recall.

XPP is a good well run company but until its end markets pick up I cant see the share price improving, I would'nt be surprised to see 700 at some point, but thats just my opinion and I wouldn't like to bet money on that.

"With no improvement in end market sentiment yet in evidence, we expect further revenue
contraction in the first quarter of 2012" - that is a profit warning i wonder why are the traders so lazy this morning is should have opened -10%. anyway, an opportunity for those who are fresh like radish this morning.

sorry yes - i mean trading update (not results). Revenues for the twelve months ended 31 December 2011 were up 13% - so i would hope that translates into a better bottom line, and a PE lower than 10?

clearly wont be confirmed until the actual results release though..

JayQ,

thats not the results - they come in Feb. So no idea about the bottom line

Net debt growing slightly - is this being used to support the dividend.

Good yield.

Prospects for 2012?

My thoughts is that, unless there is a global upturn, profits will be lower.

Quite a slow down in the final quarter with a 'softening' outlook, no impetus to buy here atm, imo
