21/2/2009 14:38 | Davy - The management are still getting their salaries for doing nothing except for signing bits of paper. No change for them then-did nothing before and are still doing nothing!!! | loganair
21/2/2009 14:16 | Yes still wathcing and wondering about the final outcome.... | martin44
21/2/2009 13:40 | SL33PY-In theory the management are there maybe overseeing the administrators. In practice I think we'll find the administrators are just left to get on with it, with maybe the management called in to put their signatures to selling 2Eentertain etc. loganair-I agree with your last paragraph. | davy99
21/2/2009 10:27 | Davy - "What do I do if I have Woolworths shares? Cry at the typical fixed and ridged attitude of the Woolies management, the same attitude that has destroyed so many great British companies in the past and present. Woolies was a great company and with half decent management would still be a prospering great British company. | loganair
21/2/2009 07:50 | Well it's hardly worth the email to Deloitte. "What do I do if I have Woolworths shares? If you have any shares in Woolworths we advise you to contact the administrator Deloittes by email. woolworthsenquiries@ | davy99
20/2/2009 22:03 | I don't know, but the amount seems O.T.T. to me, especially as the new Woolworths website are looking to offer Pick'nMix. | davy99
20/2/2009 21:36 | who is going to get the last bag of 'Pick'n'mix' ??? | scotty tsquared
20/2/2009 20:32 | SOUTHPORT. | fazersix
20/2/2009 17:32 | Tony's relaunch May 09 repeat (relaunch the store chain) | fazersix
20/2/2009 15:32 | loganair- Re your post 5791. In Woolworths proposal to creditors from mid Jan. it states, (paraphrased) during the 6 weeks trading in administration there were sales of £301 million, costs incurred during the period were £129 million, these results were obtained using stock held by the Company of £264 million. (It is implied that the £264 million was the total stockholding of Woolworths.) (These figures are seperate to EUK held stock.) | davy99
20/2/2009 15:01 | Davy - I posted of this thread around a month ago a report from Deloittes saying how much stock was still left on the shelves of EUK and how much had been transfered. Please note that all the values given are at full retail price. | loganair
20/2/2009 14:43 | Looks like Deloitte are reneging on a deal with the Publishing Association re EUK selling off books: | davy99
20/2/2009 14:29 | loganair- most of EUK's stock was being off loaded at a discount to book & music distributors/retaile | davy99
20/2/2009 14:22 | Davy - The £550m odd was at the time Deloittes took over. That's the report I heard. We know how much was on the shelves of EUK when Deloittes came in, because they said so & Deloittes also said how much of EUKs stock was transferred to Woolies stores. | loganair
20/2/2009 14:09 | loganair- I don't know here you get the "£550m worth of stock in stores & warehouses"........ maybe you are correct, but I don't recall those figures. Yes, any stock picked up for 10% of it's value should do well for the buyer. | davy99
20/2/2009 13:35 | Davy - Woolies sold some £350m worth of stock while under administration. In the region of £110m worth of stock was transfered to Woolies which leaves £350m - £110m = £220m. I understood woolies to have in the region of £550m worth of stock in the stores and warehouses which leaves in the region of £330m-retail value. Deloittes may get £30m for the stock. Bottom feeders like Mr Dawson are making £Millions and £Millons. No doubt the lady who has opened the Wellworth store is able to pick-up a load of ex-Woolies stock for next to nothing. I just wish other ex-woolies managers had done the same thing. | loganair
20/2/2009 13:00 | loganair- Agreed a good article. Below link talking of several Woolworths stores in the East of England likely to be sold along with Woolworths stock. I wasn't aware there was any significant Woolies stock left. | davy99
20/2/2009 09:36 | Davy - A very good article, one of the best I've read. | loganair
20/2/2009 07:05 | Interesting article on Woolworths property from the landlords viewpoint. | davy99
19/2/2009 16:04 | loganair - 19 Feb'09 - 14:28 - 5786 of 5786 Yeah food for thought its up to Gordon now to start legislation make the Banks lend correct multiples of income without being Silly (be reasonable). My opinion Banks created a situation where buyers bought detatched rather than terraced properties because of short term greed/speculation by Banks probably brought about by target pressures from head offices, its mans nature right or wrong to buy the best property for his/her family. IMHO if lending was at current rates woolies would have stood a much better chance of survival and 100% survival if Gordon guaranteed their credit insurance. Hind sight as they say ! | fazersix
19/2/2009 14:28 | F6 - What Sadam may have been able to have done was to have given the chop to BOI/GMAC and Barclays. Can we ship these bankers to Zimbabwe, where there is over 90% unemployment, 70,000 cases of Cholera and 230,000,000% inflation. Just think of it, with in a matter of days their huge bonuses of the past would be worth nothing. | loganair
19/2/2009 14:25 | loganair - 19 Feb'09 - 14:07 - 5784 of 5784 That's cool but it surprised me still leaders need a good front man to hide behind, probably like others i'm a recipient of spin getting wrong news from the doctors leading me down the wrong road, does make me wonder how much is true. Sadams gone but it seems to have opened a bag of worms in the area, not sure who killed the most sadam or the coalition forces, maybe my senses need oiling ! Here's a thought would sadam have saved woolies from the chop. | fazersix
19/2/2009 14:07 | F6 - Not wishing to bost, but I have personally met and talked with Tariq Aziz, Iraqs deputy president under Sadam. On a one to one basis a decent bloke, I was totally open with him and said what I thought and I still have my head-not too sure about my brains as I invested in Woolies. | loganair |
