CC2014 - as of the December 2018 annual report, WEIF's stake in Sabina was valued at £85,470,000. The shares have never traded despite the fake Guernsey listing so I assume he's pretending the valuation is now the same or higher, like with his unquoted holdings. Specto - no bonds but Woodford's holdings in Sabina are almost all preference shares which are basically the same thing - classed as debt rather than equity, they pay a guaranteed 10% dividend each year. Of course Sabina has no revenue, so the only way they can pay the dividend is by issuing more preference shares. Each year Woodford would buy another £10-20 million of preference shares which would then be used to payout the dividend for his existing preference shares. It sounds a bit like a Ponzi scheme except there is only one investor ponzying himself.

You all do great work digging out the dirt beneath Woody's more esoteric investments. When you look at his Biotech stable in the round it begins to look like investors have been had. The outcome of so many seems to have been sealed before the trials. It is also odd he invested in Russian stuff. How long before the genie comes out of the bottle with Woodford???

If WEIF was worth 4b at the end of April, 1.88% on Sabina is worth £75m. A rather large investment in something that sits on a pile of cash.

Strewth, seems Woody only listed his 90k pref shares on Guernsey. So zero chance of any trade or any price discovery.

At the end of April Woodford held the following in Sabina in WEIF as a percentage of the fund. If someone can get the market cap at that time we could work out the value Sabina 1 0.59% Sabina 4 0.59% Sabina 0.20% Sabina 2 0.20% Sabina 3 0.20% Sabina 5 0.10% If someone wants to unravel OMBU: Ombu 1 0.30% Ombu 8 0.17% Ombu 9 0.17% Ombu 2 0.13% Ombu 4 0.06%

Might be wrong, but didn't Woody have bonds as well as equity in Fat Bloke Finance Sabina? So with zero revenues, paying the bond interest out of the equity money raised.

Sabina Estates shares delisted from the Guernsey stock exchange. That's the last of the Guernsey listings gone, after BenevolentAI, Industrial Heat and Ombu got delisted last month. Https://www.tisegroup.com/market/companies/6395 Reminder that Sabina is a cash shell, pretending to be a property company despite never having built any properties. Zero revenue for 2016, 2017 and 2018. £600k expenditure last year, virtually all of which was on salaries and "consultancy fees" paid to the directors, who are the also the major shareholders in Belasko, which has sponsored Woodford for years and organised all four of the Guernsey listings. A despicably dodgy company.

Yes, but not quite as crazy. Then all you needed was a .com in your name. What you need now is a believable blue-sky disruptor story that investors can get excited about. Uber etc. etc. Valued for perfection. Massively loss making. Lots of businesses are delivering disruptive technology at below cost, because investor bubbles are funding them. The bubble will burst, as they always do.

There is a lot of overvalued technology/ disruptor stuff around at present. Woodys portfolio is overvalued rubbish as opposed to most Baillie Gifford growth portfolio’s where there are some winners (but valuations are equally insane). I keep hearing that this time it’s different. Recessions are gone and growth will outperform value forever because of technological change. Red flags abound. This time is not different. Time to be conservative.

careful21 Aug '19 - 15:14 - 9847 of 9851 0 1 0 It is a scandal if an official estimate can be so wrong. ------- I totally agree, but they will say it's only an estimate, and use that as a get out. It was also a scandal when he listed stocks in Guernsey, IMO.
