Thanks - expected that. We will see who is correct in months and years, not days. Think WPCT is down 25% in the latter stages of a 9 year bull market. That's what I call truly impressive active management. You could have done much better throwing darts. Thinking about it, his relative performance is down over 50%, given everyone else has been up 30-40%!

Trollwatch - do you really believe the tosh you keep posting or are you just doing it to wind people up? I think the latter, but happy for you to respond.

So a strong rise coming into the AGM then a fall immediately after.

Odd that.

It is good to read so many informed opinions on the May update page, it is plainly obvious vested interests are preventing any meaningful discussion here. Mostly by a single individual running a number of accounts I might add.

Trollwatch, some of us have jobs (not in the UK). Did you go? What was your take on it all?

You should all (!) have turned up yourselves at the AGM. After all you had plenty of notice.

I had a wonderful chicken dinner last night to celebrate my WPCT shares going up so much. Only trouble is it keeps repeating on me.

On Odey, Odey runs two or three funds and then there are the other funds under the umbrella of Odey Asset Management. Some have been consistently good performers, but his main hedge fund has been a horror. Until this year, that is. You can actually buy into it on a retail basis (the SWAN fund). I bought some for my daughter as a true hedge for other stuff - including Woodys Income Fund that I still hold for her.

Topvest, you are of course correct. You would expect an eight year old simply to write "cluck, cluck, cluck".

As the more mature (less infantile?) contributers to this board know, investment is difficult enough without the affliction of "denial".

I am very little wiser as to what happened at the AGM yesterday, depite a dozen clucking posts.

Perhaps all fund managers do this but is it acceptable that Woodford runs a Twitter account which 'talks his own book'???

Woodford's argument on his income funds is that there will be a slowdown in China and Europe and the US have their own problems, which will draw investors back to the 'historically cheap' UK. He is also claiming the UK will grow at 2% this year.

This is all well and good but on his Twitter account he is only tweeting items which support his case. Hence UK rising inflation numbers and falling output numbers don't get a mention.

I get that he wants to construct an argument for his investment stance and that side is interesting. But at what point does it start to become fake news, if his investors rely upon it are they being duped??? Surely if he is running a Twitter account he has a duty to publish official figures even when there are at odds with his narrative.

Do the other firms run similar Twitter accounts or is it the 'cult of Woodford' at large???

Madfoetus - yes Odey's funds have had disastrous performance over the last few years but year to date he has turned it around a little and is up 20%

Am I right that Odets Fund has gone from over £2bn to £200m. His performance has been terrible. I think some "star" fund managers get lucky with a single call early in their careers and then live off that lucky call for the rest of their life.
