06/10/2020 15:20 | Take it back s34: It does appear to be shroders.... I guess they need the money for some other thing on their books. Well spotted! | netcurtains
06/10/2020 15:06 | s34: sellers and buyers - I've looked closely. Its just profit taking too early. There is only so much money but so many bargains. I think they will regret selling - this has long term accumulate written all over it. I bought few more (third lot today)... (BT doing well today - seems to have broken out of some downward loop - perhaps knock no effect of RR.) | netcurtains
06/10/2020 15:05 | Seller still there nett | s34icknote
06/10/2020 14:28 | Listen to the video clip it is interesting to see how many robotics companies WINs are speaking to. | netcurtains
06/10/2020 12:25 | The more I think about this the more I think this is a bloomin good investment. I just bought some more. PE of 6.91 when normal FTSE all share index PE is about 20. Then we have a good story about e-fulfilment, dark stores etc etc. Its cheap and its doing well. And not only is it cheap for the UK its cheap for the entire western world as the UK has about the worst performing stock market (by PE) in the western world (I guess on par with Spain). It really does appear to be a bargain. | netcurtains
06/10/2020 09:15 | Yes its the future. Currently many supermarkets have 'picker's' who go round actual stores collecting orders. Ship it all to dark stores, get it automated etc. Wincanton's dark store in Greenford West London for Waitrose is BIG, 800 new staff over 25000 orders picked and delivered per week, is the real start for Win, although it already operates a number of dark stores already, on a smaller scale. Can see Wincanton operating 4 to 5 further Waitrose dark stores in their busy areas to be announced in 2021. dyor. | volvo

05/10/2020 11:33 | The transaction will reduce the Group's annual revenue by approximately £60m and will lead to a small increase in the Group's underlying profit before tax. Looks like it was a marginally loss-making part of the business anyway. Probably more hassle than it was worth for management, even with prospects for a small profit. | edmundshaw
05/10/2020 10:27 | Yep, looks a good deal - increases profits, reduces need for further investment, reduces volatility and further focuses the business: | rivaldo
05/10/2020 09:02 | Container business off loaded, 60m turnover of hassle gone and it improves the bottom line. Concentrate on Waitrose etc. | volvo
05/10/2020 07:09 | FTSE100 opening blue this morning. So there is a lot of optimism around. The Sunday times reports very buoyant retail figures. I would expect another good day for WINS? | netcurtains
05/10/2020 07:08 | rimau re Brexit. This is from June 2020 results, note that the company sees no downside and good possibilities upside. Brexit Although there remains uncertainty on the nature and timing of the UK's proposed withdrawal from the European Union (Brexit), our understanding of potential risks and impacts are regularly reviewed and assessed. We have, for example, reviewed the potential impact of Brexit, including adverse economic consequences, on our existing contract base, workforce, bidding activities and supply chain. We continue to believe that Wincanton will not be materially affected by the UK withdrawing from the European Union, which is currently scheduled to occur at the end of December 2020. This is based on the following key points: -- Our operations are generally delivered locally in-country and are not critically dependent on a cross-border supply chain or workforce. Wincanton's operations in Ireland are not a significant part of the Group and represent c.1% of Group revenue. -- As a British focused 3PL business there is potential for additional demand for our services under most Brexit scenarios, including demand for warehouse space and management, management of bonded goods and supply of container storage and transportation. -- Most of our existing contracts have provisions which allow for inflationary and other adjustments (e.g. fuel price movements, tariffs on imported vehicles) to be charged to our customers and approximately 60% of our contracts are open book contracts in which we do not bear the direct impact of increasing costs. -- Should the UK's exit from the EU at the end of 2020 result in a 'hard' Brexit without a transition period and/or an orderly withdrawal may cause regulatory and compliance uncertainty on some contracts that require performance under EU regulation, bodies and/or standards; however, we believe such uncertainties will be addressed under proposed new UK regulations following any withdrawal. -- We have reviewed our supply chain and are broadly comfortable with our key suppliers' ability to maintain the provision of goods and services on key contracts. | volvo
05/10/2020 06:44 | WIN is a cyclical stock, and the market is looking ahead at the prospect of brexit uncertainty, recession and fears of another covid lockdown. All of the above are not great for our volume and haulage business. IMO Win is a deep value play but value plays can take years to rerate, it just takes patience and add on the inevitable market driven dips. | rimau1
04/10/2020 10:16 | Thanks rivaldo...I talked back in the summer to the company and they couldn't understand the share price, believe it was about 180p then. Since then the FD Lawlor has tried hard to convince the markets and investors that everything is going in the right direction....right down to the detailed pension situation on Friday. So £60m cash, some of this is obviously spoken for, but the company are expressing it has money, small debt, easily manageable pension situation, and a sack full of new orders with household names, and trading on p/e 7 this year and 5-6 next year....what else would the markets/investors want? | volvo
04/10/2020 09:52 | Small cap investor Doc Holliday (never heard of him, but apparently he's got a following?) says WIN are arguably "extremely cheap" - brief snippet from just after 27 minutes in: | rivaldo
04/10/2020 08:27 | Waitrose success at home delivery is the joint top headline on Sunday Times Business section. I guess Wincanton is on its way to being an Ocado! | netcurtains
02/10/2020 20:11 | I followed you in here Volvo after reading your wise words on prtc, glad I did, thanks. | lendmeafiver
02/10/2020 16:31 | Nice close, chart positive, good update. | owenski
02/10/2020 15:00 | Bought some trading stock today at 224.5p, completely expect 250p within days-weeks. Not many companies saying its in a sweet spot as WIN said today. We'll see. | volvo |
