Very poor. Kitchen sink job on Retail FOBT, look expensive now. Interesting messaging on possible expansion in Spain and Italy which makes 888 a better fit now but M&A is the only bullish reason i can grasp for holding at these levels. Could derate rapidly in the short term.

Results will be the best in the industry . Hills were 11/2 antepost France, all 10 other major players were 6's and 13/2 & 28/1 Croatia, when 2 others were the same & 7 were 33's

rimau1 agreed its a good place to be 888 is a buying opportunity for me it hovered at 320p when a buyer was thought to be around, it will be out of the blue all cash bid 340p '100p more than closing blah blah' GVC continues to lay golden eggs for me too but at north of 1150p it feels like a lot of that party has happened.

Good tactic finkie, I will be adding more if the results are bad on friday. Market has already priced in a poor retail showing. There will be a deal done with Hills across the pond and 12 times earnings and a 4.5% yield the risk reward is heavily skewed. Chairman quoted that Hills would be taken over if FOBT was reduced to £2 and he should know. I also think 888 is still overpriced but willing to pay a premium for it likely being forced into a deal which could come at anytime. Loving this sector!!!

I agree with Noujay tricky to evaluate, made 10% on WMH a couple of months ago so going to buy 50% now and 50% after results if they are poor then we may see 275-280p.

If the management are not up to it, then at the current price 888 look cheap but in reality are expensive.

Yes, 888 looking cheap at the moment but just not convinced management are up to it

Very hard to work out an entry point here it could just easily slip back down to the 280's as push through 300

I agree Noujay, i am hoping the whole sector keeps running, I added 888 too this morning as all UK peers are now in play and the GVC announcement will have the other casino and betting operators scrambling. The UK companies have the knowledge and expertise.

The smart money would take profits in GVC and move here, this will be the next announcement. I topped up again at £2.99 WMH are already in discussions according to the weekend press

To paraphrase that old saying:

Some make things happen (GVC?)
Some allow things to happen (Ladbrokes /Coral?)
and some just wonder what the hell happened (WMH... ?)

Pete160, totally agree. I am convinced that we are already in talks, plenty of value to unlock here.

You may well be right on wmh being a sitting target - but is that a problem?
The wmh bod have hardly been a massive success have they.
So long as the premium is good, I'd vote for it.

Gvc MGM tie up rumoured to be announced Monday. WMH need to act fast or we are a sitting duck for a US predator. Expect a big bounce next week :)

Let's see what 3rd August brings, looking at price today, market still seems unsure. The area I feel confident in are the executive board, their experience to make prudent decisions going forward. Don't want to feel over confident about Friday.

Would like to see William Hill come off High Street, solely into online and Racecourses only in UK.

I have been adding under £3 - we are basically at the same price as before US sports betting was announced (fobt we ended positive on the day >£3.00) whilst Paddy and GVC have significantly re-rated. I expect our Investor Relations to earn their salary and get some positive outlook messaging out there next week. Even our sluggish UK retail estate must have got a WC boost. Risk reward firmly skewed to the upside here and I am very long. The opportunity is (a) Online (b) industry consolidation to mitigate tighter regulation and (3) the US and further (Emerging) Market deregulation (China/korea etc) that is why I am invested here (and in GAN).

interesting to see the affect of World Cup with many lunatics betting on England and general mobile betting seems almost on an endemic scale.
not long ago these were 330p so seem good value imo

Markets are obviously expecting bad results on 3rd August. On the other hand they are just manipulating the markets with a 'tree shaker' so that big orders can be placed at advantageous prices, just a guess, but I agree prices are very low indeed, changes can happen, but not what investors want to see.

Nice write up in The Times “William Hill is off to the races in New Jersey after punters wagered more than $16 million in the first 17 days after sports betting was legalised in the state“ can’t believe we are sub 300...
