WEY get mention in Oxfordshire County Council PDF too:

If you do a search on: "elective home education team" it seems nearly every county council in the UK has a designated team in this area. Potentially WEY could contact every UK council and tender for quite a lot of business, each and every year...

This one is Nottinghamshire .... They are all over the place. This is bigger than you think

Chief executive and co-founder, Jacqueline Daniell, added: "Over the years, Interhigh has received an increasing number of requests for junior school places.

"The school’s learning platform has been greatly improved in the last 12 months and is now entirely suitable for younger learners.

boonkoh: what would you have as your HERO image for InterHigh?

what would you have as your "Call to action?"

Bones and net I do hope you are both correct I have a lot riding on this share but my confidence is dropping very quickly and I will be the first to hold my hands in the air if I am wrong. I probably should go away for an extended holiday ...2 years or more:+)

Like all good online businesses with a niche offering, it is all about expanding sales, market share, investment and forming a moat. Profits at this stage are distantly secondary.Obvious extreme example is fledgling bookseller from the late 90's, Amazon something, who were up against a cartel of fixed price book publishers and key retailers. Whatever did happen to WH Smith?

666james: Nope: WEY have been thinking of a Investor Evening in August - and there is a strong chance (IMHO) of an RNS before the meeting (I'll be disappointed if there is no RNS)... I'm not the only poster that thinks there is some news out there and we'll get something in August.

Hi net, if I have understood things correctly the year ends 31/8/18 but the figures come out in November and they have been reluctant to give out any updates. So it will be 4 months before we will hear any news, I think. I remember back at the beginning of the year 2018 we were waiting for an update but none arrived and when the figures were published the share dropped. I may be a bit out on the dates but I think you will get my drift

Boonkoh, I have wanted WEY to advertise for some while and from what you have said in your post it does not surprise me but it does disappoint me. They don't seem be fully on the ball with things. They were very lax sometime back with a posting or leaflet (I forget which) advertising their English courses and the reading of some of it did not make sense. When you are advertising an English course you must get YOUR English 100% correct. Many thanks for the info you have given and I am with Mcfly regarding you having a chat with DM. It might do some good.

That is interesting, NetCurtains.
Last para of the SCC page says "If you do decide to home educate your child the Surrey Elective Home Education Team will be supportive, friendly and approachable." It's almost as if they're giving tacit encouragement to home schooling. Obviously there's a saving to SCC/central govt education budget if material numbers home school.....

Hi boonkoh,

Thanks for the feedback, good to hear from someone in the industry. I'm sure David Massie would be grateful for your comments if you've got time to email him, and perhaps suggest improvements and good ad agencies they could use.

They're still a small company with relatively little experience of mainstream marketing.

boonkoh: I dont think that is the point.

I suspect InterHigh cant grow faster then it can recruit and train teachers.... It needs a slow and stead steam of new children but not explosive - eg its OK to double from 15 to 30 but to double from 2000 to 4000 might well take a lot of new teachers all in one go!!! Can InterHigh actually cope with explosive growth once we get into the thousands???

This august's figures and "NEWS" (whatever that might be) will be interesting... Only a little while to wait now.

The limitation is not the numbers of teachers it can recruit but rather how fast they can all be trained (security checks as well) and ready to take class....

Saw an ad on the London tube for InterHigh. It was the most un-eye-catching ad you will ever see, and isn't effective in grabbing anyone's attention. I know, as I work in marketing, specialising in customer acquisition campaigns. What a waste of money.

Slight aside, but I was surprised a few days ago to hear ads on Encore Radio for Hurtwood House, a minor Surrey public school (albeit with drama specialisms, so some affinity with the target audience). If a small physical school can afford that, maybe Wey should consider something similar targeted at middle class housewives? Classic FM probably too expensive though?

I have had a few disasters in the past with UK co's moving into the US market. Notably Bateman Litwin an engineering co. who bought a US biomass plant that turned out to be worthless. I also have an interest in LTG so hoping their USD150m. acquisition of PeopleFluent turns out successfully.

Macmillan certainly look like more fun than WEY - do they stem from the old MacMillan publishing co ?

rampy: you said "The USA has been a graveyard for many aspiring UK company"

... except companies involved in EDUCATION and or the MEDIA (as well as our education establishments being successful in the USA so are our media companies such as the BBC, Daily Mail, The Guardian and Harry Potter).

Take a look at this site:

If China does well for WEY (as per Macmillan) we should get tweets soon like this:

wey can do theatre online for school children in asia with Macmillan.

Perhaps WEY could do a joint venture with Macmillian Education (based in basingstoke) to do something online with them in China or USA?

Net no argument that this could be a fertile area. Just think that WEY have enough on their plate at the moment. I am mindful that the US market has been a graveyard for many aspiring UK companies so strategy needs to be right.

666james - could be as suggested by a previous poster that after that earlier infamous RNS, DM looking to under promise and over deliver going forward. This explanation at least fits the facts.

rampy: 6 times more US students go to Oxford Uni then Irish students. The USA has a very competitive Ivy League but still they come. InterHigh is a CHEAP way to get good results to get into UK Ivy League universities. Could be sold that way to USA.

Thanks net 22p sounds quite attractive from where I'm sitting. I would think that entry into more competitive US market is unlikely at the moment. They probably need to get something off the ground first.

So which view is correct? The continuing numbers of small PI's sadly leaving the building mostly nursing large losses or the BOD and Institutions who seem unphased by the downward spiral. Indeed Livingbridge has been increasing their stake up to 22% even as the share price has been dropping. I assume the Institutions have been given some reassurances particularly Livingbridge.

Any uplift, when it comes, is likely to spike up very quickly with the limited float available further reduced by Livingbridge.

Last year we received a T/U on the 31st August being the final day of Wey's financial year. I assume this will be forthcoming again this year.

rampmeister: I'm going to assume we will get some good news soon....but will also assume that this news rise still will not get us over the 22p hump because some investors bought in at that amount and it will only take one or two of them to get cold feet to make the price stick at that range for a while.

What we really need is good news and a promise of a further deal in the near future (like buying another B2B company or something else - perhaps a deal in the USA - "posh" English accent). We need something to carry the share price beyond August.

What I dont want to see happen is a rapid trader driven rise in August then see everyone hit the sell button together. We want many to wait longer term for the next deal and the next. I dont mind the share price falling back (its a good thing generally) but only with the expectation that it will rise again stronger than before. So we really want good news in August and a promise of even better news in a few months (say November) and then more news after that. A bull run of news .

of course all this waffle will be blown out of the water if the news is really really good, OR there is no news at all. At present all we can do is wildly guess.
