Lots of news over Easter concerning educating children with extra needs. The numbers "excluded" from bricks and mortar school rose from 1000 in 2016 to 4000 in 2017.

Obviously no one likes to see a child excluded from school but nevertheless perhaps if a child does have extra needs a term or so at InterHigh might just give that child "some space" to develop as a child should without the extra stress of being in a large and loud class where the teaching staff have little or no spare time for pupils with extra needs.

Yes, netcurtains, point 6 did not need saying, but David was making a point! As you say, the implication is that things are on course at this early stage.

Bones, many thanks for 847. I was very tempted to give them a ring myself but felt like I was panicking somewhat. I am pleased with the response given which seem reasonable. I will wait for the half year report which I hope will be in line with their expectations. I certainly can understand that the company should be more than just "Jacqui and David". Thanks again

Isn't that sort of an announcement in its own right?

I'm no English expert, but if you say: 6. Company still has AiM obligation to update the market promptly if the board becomes aware of anything that is out of line with market expectations

Doesn't that imply: ANNOUNCEMENT: WE'RE DOING AS WELL AS WE SAID WE WOULD!!!

I guess the accountants would say: "in line with market expecatations" could mean anything, as the market is both naive and sophisticated but on the other hand one tends to go with the basic definition - if you say you expect to make X amount of profit and have X numbers of extra pupils then the market, roughly, expects those figures to be met - within reasonable bounds.

Assuming the extra money is being used for marketing one would probably assume that they will meet those targets - anyway that is my thinking - I'm pretty opptimistic about WEY meeting its targets.

666James, reference your remark about no interim update this year, I have communicated with David Massie. In essence:1. There is no formal requirement to do such an update under AiM rules.2. At time of finals, company was conscious of the timing of the (then proposed) Academy 21 acquisition and the need to report on that at next results. Tried to give us much information as possible in various announcements in January including the initial steps taken on A21.3. Several things were happening including the integration of Academy 21 and the appointment of a new Finance Director (designate) who is due to join on 5 April. The A21 transaction closed over the Christmas holidays so they got to work on it from January. They made an initial announcement at the time and then a general update about 22 January including details of new registrations. 4. Held an investor event on 10 January. They feel they cannot really get into a six week update cycle. 5. Given the expansion of the management team, they want to have the new FD on board next time they speak to the market so it was not all "Jacqui and David". 6. Company still has AiM obligation to update the market promptly if the board becomes aware of anything that is out of line with market expectations.7. When the new FD joins, David Massie will quickly settle the date of the interims with him and consider an announcement to confirm their date.CheersBones

Net,

I have 25 years of relevant experience and that experience is current. I was holding WEY, I sold out on the spike. I have looked carefully at their offer. What I posted about GCSE's was correct and represents a barrier to mainstream uptake. Its an easy fix - they just move to the same reformed GCSE's that almost every mainstream school offers and ditch the easier igcse - which is no longer validated for UK accountability measures/school tables.

And I never knew that about the comic strip. Thanks.

My user id relates to its ancient meaning rather than a 1990's comic strip ;0)

WEY transends brexit, trump, DOW, FTSE - its the future of Education - I dont care what Garth thinks (Garth wasa daily mirror virtual comic book hero before i was born) , I'm pretty sure that within my life time about 10% of the UK and EU kids will be taught 80% exclusively over the internet - and they they be the go getter whizz kids of the future.

Yes net, I was wondering where you were. I think with Wey issuing an update for the half year in Feb 2017 I ( and probably others) were expecting another update to cover this half year that has just finished. I am also well stuck into this share and hope the update, if we get one, is as good as last years.

Read the annual report, or go back to the prospectus and you'll find the answers daijavu. Way too in depth for a bulletin board response.

I guess there will be volatility until tax year end (and hopefully an update by the end of this month), as I am seeing in most AIM stocks that I follow at the moment, but the long term story here is an excellent and as bones says potentially disruptive one.

Shake something enough and bits will come loose. And so it passes as doubt creeps into the minds of holders as WEY (and most of other small stocks) falls in value and they wonder what the company really does. Psychology is a wondrous thing! This is the time to pick up stock. Around the placing price. Most gnashed their teeth when chosen investors got in at 22p. Now people are thinking of selling at that price? It was easy to sell some at 35-40p. It was a spike. I've since reloaded at 25-27p but I could miss the lows, if Trump's tariffs catch on!No worries though, WEY is a disruptor for the long term. I expect more acquisitions as well as using their war chest for SEO and marketing. I love the market for its violence!

Most of today's drop seems to be spread. Obvs wish I'd sold at 43p but seems to be tight and good news will see us off to the races. GLA
