Hi all I have just been advised by IG that they will start charging me every quarter £24 for an inactive ISA share account. This will start April 2018.

They have not charged me before now and I was wondering if anybody could recommend an ISA manager they have been satisfied with.

runthejoules - have been searching Stockopedia for the discussion you're talking about - could you provide a link please?

Interesting that there's talk of them running before they can walk, while Roger Lawson's pressing for them to run faster. They can't win. They were clear that using AI for actual content teaching is quite a way off.

Apologies if posted previously.

runthejoules: my assumption is they have the money now . (the FIVE MILLION) ... If they spend it relatively wisely they should meet their figures and if results in the SUMMER are as good as forecast we should really be in the 50s or 60s and thinking about the 70s in 2019.

Its all about the SUMMER and clues along the way (eg WEY buying this that or the other, or newspaper articles or twitter news ....).

Its going to be an interesting few months as ONE news item can make this blow... And it can happen on any day, in any month all the way to the summer

Hi NY boy , yes low volume approx 96,000 buys against 50,000 sells at noon according to the AM share site I use and it still goes down. I think it got ahead of itself and is now sorting itself out. Enjoy your holiday...it is persisting down here.

On hols somewhere nice and sunny and warm, presumably the pull back is on low volume, the shares are tightly held only about 23% out of private hands.

Might add a few this month, when I get time.

Do read the bit in italics. Its quite thought provoking

Interesting Phd paper from Australia on the unstoppable trend towards Internet/Distant/Home learning across the world and in particular Europe.

The paper is old but it really stands out as being true to me. I love the word he promotes "Fordist" for current bricks and mortar schools - like assembly lines left over from the 1920s to churn out mediocrity and sameness.

A snippet from the research:

Our vast secondary schools are among the last great Fordist institutions, where people in large numbers go at the same time, to work in the same place, to a centrally devised schedule announced by the sound of a bell. In most of the rest of the economy people work at different times, in different places, often remotely and through networked organisations. In the last two decades private sector organisations have become more porous, management hierarchies have flattened, working practices have become more flexible, job descriptions more open and relationships between organisations, as suppliers and partners, more intense. The bounded, stand alone school, as a factory of learning, will become a glaring anomaly in this organisational landscape (p.7).

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the share finished off positive.

There is no reason for fall apart from blind panic, there is, however, good reasons for continued rises.

Taken a small position here, was hoping to grab more under 30p but missed out. Will watch over the weeks ahead for another opportunity, if it doesn't motor away.

Exactly my point Net, you will be the winner!

I don't trade heavily to be fair and most of my holdings are core, with just the quantity jumping about to suit opportunities. My core portfolio is pretty small though being, in no particular order of preference, WEY, VRS, ARC, AOR, TRIN, SPSY, N4P. That is it and they are hopefully there for the long run! I see them all as multi-baggers ultimately. I just have parts of the fund for shorter term things, often being short term because they fail as trades :)

bones: trading makes you more money than holding but I'm hopeless at trading.

I've always set myself the long term target of hoping that the UK can support at least ONE FTSE 250 education company (about £1 billion market cap).

This can be achieved by the market growing and by buying up smaller concerns.
If the on-line secondary education market eventually took about 5% of UK market (as the USA hit a few years back) then WAY would be worth about £1 billion.

I am a believer (I can easily see WAY going down to about 29p 28p ) before you lot all pile in again, but its not my game at all - I want the £1 £2 £5 £10 a share!

Verulamium, I have updated the broker forecasts in the header as per your earlier post after the Investor Presentation. Thanks for those.

Interesting to compare the previous one to it. Notice the crimping of pre-tax profit for the current year presumably due to the increased marketing efforts. I assume the revenue increase is due to the acquisition. Without that, perhaps there would have been a small loss as they are clearly "investing" in the marketing and sales costs including big board advertising.

I suspect these forecasts may prove to be conservative but clearly there is an element of mystery about how these campaigns will play out given they are firsts for the company.

Perspective, people. This share was unnoticed, unloved and languishing this time last year at 4p!

I am grateful to Netcurtains for mentioning it back then on another thread before I came to notice it so was happy to accumulate from 8p upwards, albeit I have sold a lot at various times in the 20's and 30's (as documented at the time). My holding is not large currently as I am often switching around to pick up more "attractive" bargains. Should this fall back to the mid-20's rest assured I shall again top up.

In the longer term, it will be Netcurtains who laughs loudest for simply holding, but I think I am just a wee bit too restless and seeking to maximise gains. So far it has worked but the market may get its wicked way eventually so I need to watch for bearish smoke signals.

For those that are interested there was some reasonable analysis conducted by myself and other contributors on the old thread from post 56. A little bit of detailed research and analysis always helps.

I'm a little puzzled if I had a holding in a stock why would I provide a -ve slant on it.

Nice threats from Roger Lawson, which speaks volumes. Nothing at all wrong with the presentation (apart from the length) runthejoules, just that it’s obviously one for the medium/long term, which is slightly out of fashion at the moment.

Woodcutter: Some of the comments on the web about me are the subject of a libel case and you would be wise to ignore them. Just garbage and factually incorrect in essence.

I certainly have never tipped shares, never give buy or sell recommendations and if you read what I have said about Wey then it is clear that it is an attempt to report the key points that came across in the seminar. That is all.
