Only been in Spoons once since reopening.
They were strict on leaving details etc.
Wonder how many people leave a false name/address/phone number.

I hear that form filling is optional? Smaller pubs require Name/Addy etc....why not Weatherspoons?

Tim needs to get a grip. Announcing all is well, bull!

Smaller pub groups are knocking spots off WD, as they are sticking to rules.

Crackin short!

Very true especially with a well tested app. They basically just need to ensure the door in manned whenever they are open.

I suspect a lot of the antimaskers like my mate would boycott the pubs with mask wearing even though its sensible in theory. Its never made sense to me shops and public transport then I walk into the pub and spray over people .I suppose its because you choose to go to the pub and you have to shop and get to work .

I think you need Paul daniels skills to manage that .PUNTERS could be forced to wear face masks in pubs and restaurants in London under a 15-point coronavirus crackdown by Sadiq Khan. The London Mayor is also urging those in the capital to work from home as much and avoid public transport "where possible" as cases grow.Londoners could be made to wear face masks in pubs and restaurants under Sadiq Khan's plansCredit: PA:Press Association??Coronavirus is spreading rapidly in the capitalCredit: Getty Images - GettyAnd Mr Khan also wants other restrictions imposed amid fears London could become the next coronavirus hotspot - including cutting mourners at funerals. This could include also face masks worn by all staff members and customers in pubs and restaurants.Currently they are only mandatory in shops, public transport and takeaways.Mr Khan has met with council leaders to thrash out a 15-point plan to slow the spread of the virus. He had already backed calls to close pubs at 10pm before it emerged Boris Johnson is due to announce the drastic plans tomorrow. The mayor hopes this will "reduce the amount of hours people spend with each other inadvertently passing the virus on".Speaking on Sky News today, he also threatened to take other "additional measures" to slow the spread of coronavirus. This could include changing how the "rule of six" is implemented in the capital - including a potential ban on households mixing. He added in a statement: "I know that many Londoners, like me, will be deeply frustrated at the likelihood of imminent new restrictions.

The pubs are OK if you have hand sanitising table service and queues ,but these pubs where they do none of this are the problem .I think a well managed wetherspoons is fine with those precautions. I take it serious and I feel safe in my local wetherspoons. I certainly didn't in a Glossop pub with the football on .You couldn't get a metre apart if you had stunk like a skunk .

Oh look they all wear masks .Taiwan's number of COVID-19 infections is currently below 400, despite the island's proximity to the outbreak's origin on mainland China. Experts say early intervention has helped stop a public health crisis.More than two months after a new virulent coronavirus emerged from the Chinese city of Wuhan, more than 1.4 million people in dozens of countries around the world have been infected. The COVID-19 infection, however, has largely spared Taiwan, despite the island's relative proximity to the virus's origin. When the outbreak first started in January, some experts predicted that Taiwan would have the highest number of cases outside of mainland China.Read more: Coronavirus latest: Germany rules out border closuresHowever, while mainland China has had over 80,000 COVID-19 cases to date, Taiwan has kept its number of confirmed cases below 400. Some international health experts credit this to Taiwan's quick preparation and early intervention.Subscribe to Corona Compact - DW's newsletter tracking coronavirus in AsiaTaiwan took early action"Due to the hard lessons that Taiwan learned during the SARS epidemic in 2003, it is more prepared for the coronavirus outbreak than many other countries," said Dr. Chunhuei Chi, a public health professor at the Oregon State University in the US.      Taiwan's government introduced a travel ban on visitors from China, Hong Kong and Macau soon after the number of coronavirus cases began to rise in mainland China.Anticipating the high demand for masks in late January, the Taiwanese government started rationing the existing supply of masks. Taiwanese citizens can now go to designated drug stores across the island to line up and buy a specific amount of masks on a weekly basis. Chi pointed out that this policy has also been duplicated in other countries like South Korea and France."Taiwan leveraged the strength of its manufacturing sector and invested approximately $6.8 million  (€ 6 million) to create 60 new mask production lines," said Chi. "This increased Taiwan's daily mask pro production capacity from 1.8 million masks to 8 million masks. This has been called 'Taiwan's Mask Miracle.'"

London is densely populated. Its also extremely multi-cultural. Thats not necessarily a good thing, when theres a pandemic on the loose.
Even way back in 2011 at the last census, around 60% of people living in London were born abroad. That will undoubtedly have increased due to mass immigration in recent years - probably more like 80% at the next census in 2021.
A lot of those people will be flying back and forth to visit relatives or do business etc. - many to countries with poor hygiene and no grip on covid-19. Add to that the over-crowding and no interest in taking precautions - this outcome was inevitable.

It's mandatory for my partner working a 12hr shift in social care,
as is the case in many other work environments.

Being asked a wear a mask to pop in and do a quick 10-20 min shop
is not a biggie. And if that's all you've got to be concerned with in life,
then count yourself very lucky indeed.

Its like the anti mask movement .There is no absolute proof that its hugely effective, but if people that have health problems can feel more confident to go out surely wearing a mask in a shop is no great hardship .Is there any thought of others that are trapped now because of corona .
