09/8/2015 07:55 | Mr Marshall and the Swede have had discussions about SWL. It has been a question of price. I did suggest to the Swede about having an activist punt at LFI/WSE in order to extract SWL for him and value for others. The idea did not get very far. | russman
08/8/2015 21:05 | Wonder if Mr Marshall might get closer to his Scandanavian friend ? I'm not a fan of either guy as individuals, but it could be a case of 1+1=3 for the WSE share price. If anyone hears word of that, I might be tempted to buy. | coolen
08/8/2015 19:54 | Creston has gone up markedly ever since they sold. Goes to prove their lack of timing. Indeed, sometimes I definitely get the feeling that their "strategic" shareholding holds back the share price of their investee companies. | topvest
08/8/2015 07:11 | I have 72p as Northbridge has tanked. No joy with the big shareholders; I suspect they are colleagues of the BoD. No harm in small shareholders making constructive suggestions. If the CEO (Chairman cannot use the internet) got 10 emails from shareholders saying we would like a buyback or a special divi; he may start putting plans in place. Otherwise I will go back to my knitting for another decade. | russman
07/8/2015 10:35 | recent messages wow...a blur of posts from people recently !!....amazing... Ive been banging on about a winding up or other action for years....now suddenly there is some interest in doing it !! (Marshalls wont wind it up...and issue assets pro rata.....since then they lose income personally....and options...and expenses....and help to self implode the Marshalls London office.....clearly not in Marshalls long term (generation to generation !) interests !...but if big holders vote for it...then it happens... If anyone wants to write to big holders...or phone them.....their contact info is available via old RNSs and/or share register..... (I wrote to bigger holders pushing for action/change 6-12 months ago......no replies or action) | smithie6
07/8/2015 10:28 | ...looking at older messages.... I would be in favour of a handing out of assets to shareholders.....sha but imho the Marshalls wont do it....unless enough shareholders join up and force it through...which based on history to date...seems unlikely....but never know... (the costs run the London office....which is useful for Marshalls and pals to run other businesses..and family investments etc....and has been paying dir. fees of Marshall junior....and one assumes expenses etc ....and Marshall senior is also director of City group...) the co. is owned by top 5/10 holders.....they must surely be unhappy with performance over last 20/30 yrs..and last year..and surely keen to get their cash back and put it to work ..harder... or are they old and grey ....and asleep | smithie6
07/8/2015 10:20 | Anyone know whats the NAV/share now this week ? | smithie6
07/8/2015 06:50 | I have asked Mr Marshall numerous times about LFI/WSE merger and "he" disagrees that it is in shareholders best interests i.e him. When pressed what was the future of LFI if FIN was "sold", he said he would have to look at all the options at the appropriate time. I am trying to give him food for thought. | russman
06/8/2015 21:32 | Since the 1980's, a merger with LFI would be the most positive route in that the resultant cost-savings of running one company only plus a return of liquidity to WSE shares would be of benefit to all. Where is the downside for anyone ? But the Marshalls have been made well aware by Smithie, your brilliant forensic analyst. | coolen
06/8/2015 11:59 | My suggestion would not affect the NTAV; mcap yes. We draw a line in the sand, say 30th Sept. Tender shares @ 10% discount to NTAV; Hartim's value is an issue. It is a big change of strategy; a liquidation policy. Otherwise an Lfin merger, but not on your terms. | russman
06/8/2015 07:53 | Where is Smithie when you need him? | russman
05/8/2015 20:57 | What would be the resultant nav on the remaining shares if that interesting idea was implemented ? | coolen
05/8/2015 18:10 | Something has to give sooner or maybe a lot later. I suggest we push for a share buyback. Say 4m shares at 60p. Shareholders with up to 5000 shares can tender 100%. Other shareholders max 20%. | russman
26/7/2015 08:04 | Nothing wrong with a short term profit. Only potential problem is selling that sort volume without moving the price. Timing has not been their greatest strength. | russman
22/7/2015 19:41 | Not really inspired by Bilby, but on the plus side it does seem to have been a fairly profitable purchase already. Current Bilby bid price is £1.05, so 25 pence up per share from the 80 pence per share purchase price. Also a dividend of 2.32 pence per share payable on 28th august. 1875000 bilby shares @ 27.32 pence = over half a million profit. | oooff
22/7/2015 19:08 | See U There. Or Can U Tell. | russman
21/7/2015 19:40 | Yes, it does look an interesting group. Just don't like the sector! | topvest
21/7/2015 17:41 | Catching up on my reading. ST @ InvC said Bilby was a hold at 97p. Always good to have another opinion. | russman
20/7/2015 15:24 | Creston was a far better bet. Wrong switch in my view. | topvest
20/7/2015 08:13 | Slept on it. I do not like this new investment; it appears desperate. Wrong sector, wrong timing, no understanding. It may turn out to be a star. Due to luck not process. Thumbs down from me. | russman
19/7/2015 14:51 | I've worked with some real dog-end companies in this sector. If the business is not well controlled, you can end-up losing your shirt! | topvest
18/7/2015 20:32 | It is not clear to me that they have any experience of this sector. It seems to be a punt. Not sure about this investment but time will tell. | russman
18/7/2015 16:05 | Interesting new investment. Not sure I like the social housing sector though. Contractors always struggle to get paid. 2015 accounts show a poor operating cash flow with a build up of debtors. Lots of companies in this sector went bust 4/5 years ago. No doubt you can do well, but you need to have robust systems. Not tempted to invest in Bilby myself. | topvest |
