Nothing about meeting to approve the sale of travel to Kumar , but given he & the Chairman the main shareholders this is not surprising . Neither is the total lack of information on the shareholder website which does not seem to have been updated for several weeks and still showing several ex directors inc Andrew Neil . Huge amount of shares sold in last few weeks , over 12m which might be concerning , although general feeling is once travel is out the way , Events looks capable of returning to profit although maybe not in the short term .

sorry, hadn't seen that and it only appeared in trade press on 22nd. I'm not sure someone running a 'dead' business would be making such comments about newly acquired clients and increases in activity at existing ones which reassures me somewhat.

and another article from same press release with encouraging statements from new MD:

Sallie Coventry has been named as the new managing director of W&O Events Limited. Formerly operations director, Coventry takes over from Paul Bowie, who left at the end of December to pursue a family business in a non-related sector.

Coventry will manage the next stage of growth at W&O Events alongside the senior management team and a number of new recruits.

The new team members consist of four senior account managers, Vicky Fraser, Louisa Gartside, Danielle Littlestone and Matt Palmer; two account managers, Louise Patterson and Kerry Saxby; and account executive Zoë Crowest. A new sales and marketing manager, Kristin Menke, has been recruited to support the business development effort.

Coventry said: "Our recent sales and marketing activity as well as the excellent results delivered by the Events Team led to a broadening of our client portfolio to include new companies in retail, finance, healthcare and pharmaceuticals. At the same time, we are enjoying a surge in activity amongst some long-established accounts in automotive and electronic goods.

"Going forward we will continue to develop our existing accounts organically by providing an exceptional focus on service levels, state-of-the-art technology and customer care. Furthermore, innovation and our nose for strategic partnerships will continue to stimulate our development."

W&O Events names new managing director
Christy Wyatt , 22 February 2011

W&O Events has promoted Sallie Coventry to the role of managing director and expanded its events team.

Coventry replaces Paul Bowie, who left the agency in December to pursue a family business.

She was formerly operations director and her remit will be to manage W&O's growth, working with the senior management team.

The agency has also appointed four senior account managers, Vicky Fraser, Louisa Gartside, Danielle Littlestone and Matt Palmer.

New recruits also include the appointment of Louise Patterson and Kerry Saxby as account mangers, Zoë Crowest as account executive and Kristin Menke as sales and marketing manager.

The agency said it has broadened its portfolio to include new clients in the retail, finance, healthcare and pharmaceuticals sectors, while seeing new activity from long-established clients in automotive and electronic goods sectors.

If we get back to £20M turnover with £2M profit from the events business then 0.8 offer will look ridiculously cheap.

Giving away a company that recorded a £ 6.1m loss on turnover of £32.9m and keeping the bit that made a profit makes sense to me ??
