The Energy Department has granted Nido Petroleum a three-year leeway to start the development of oil and gas areas under Service Contract 54 A and B northwest off Palawan.

The moratorium period was extended from Aug. 5, 2014 to Aug. 5, 2017, providing the SC 54 Block A and Block B joint ventures “sufficient time to study the presently sub-commercial areas and other areas of interest within these blocks.”

Nido is the operator of SC 54A where it also has a 42.4-percent stake. Block A, which covers the Lawaan prospect, is located in the shallow water sector of SC 54 where water depth is generally less than 120 meters. “The company is also continuing to seek farm-out and/or divestment opportunities in relation to the asset [SC 54 A],” Nido said. Nido is also the operator of SC 54 B (Pawikan prospect) where it has a 60-percent interest.

Prospective resource oil-in-place estimates for Lawaan and Libas prospects in SC 54 Block A are at 34.7 million barrels and 12 million barrels, respectively. Prospective resource oil-in-place estimate for Pawikan is about 2 billion barrels.

Nido Petroleum Limited (“Nido” or “the Company”) (ASX:NDO) is pleased to inform the market on behalf of the SC 54A and SC 54B Joint Ventures that the DOE has confirmed the approval of a 3 year moratorium period with respect to Blocks A and B of Service Contract 54, offshore Philippines.
The moratorium period extends from 5 August 2014 to 5 August 2017 and provides both the Block A and Block B Joint Ventures sufficient time to study the presently sub-commercial areas and other areas of interest within these Blocks during the moratorium period.

1. This was always a sweetheart deal(giveaway of 25% of WSX) for Cochran, which is why I believe he rushed a deal(NIDO - Philippines SC54A) that was in it's infancy and not ready for "prime-time". IMHO the HALO deal would never have occurred without Milroy's takeover attempt.
2. Cochran bought the shares before the deal was announced because he needed to show he was for real... and probably did not relish the idea of buying shares at an inflated price after the announcement.
3. And who are the "two new guys"? As far as I know the BOD is still Yeo, Butler and Patrick. I think it is a premature to consider anyone else part of WSX.
4. And finally: Even if Cochran was totally kosher and expected everything to go through... he still has to deal with the current BOD, one of whom is supposed to step-down from his highly paid position upon completion of the deal. I think Butler was pressured to step-down because of his extremely poor performance as chairman in return for the large shareholders' support and is now refusing to leave without a large payout. Everything I've heard about him is that he is a selfish piece of garbage.

smallt, why would Cochran stump up the cash for WSX shares then after announce the deal.
Just announce the oppsible deal then buy the shares after.
OK with the existing BOD we could be waiting for ever but the two new guys have very good form.

412069 - I don't expect the HALO deal to ever be closed. I don't believe NIDO had any interest in it before and I certainly don't believe BCP will make this "tiny" deal a priority in their first days after completing a takeover.

BCP energys take over Nido on 19thsept a cert now they have increased there voting rights to 30% yesterday and Nidos bod recommending the offer I'm plumping for news anytime from the 20th. It must IMHO have been the stumbling block HALO and Nido never had in mind when sorting the deal from the start.

Dekker and Milroy as will all the other main shareholders have monthly updates on the progress I am sure.
Again I say none of the big boys are selling so must be happy to hold.

I don't believe that anybody selling shares concerns the BOD at all. They only care about their inflated salaries and benefits(which they continue to draw while we wait for news). Judging by their actions I'm not even sure that they care for their reputations anymore!

Did they sell to HALO? Know idea how they came up with buying 26m in a short period. I can not remember now but if they sold 2% 14mish not going to concern the Dod. It's a waiting game I guess.

412069 -

The insto's are selling. As I've said before the closest one to management(Kilik) now hold less than 3%. My fear is that they know more than anyone. Certainly more than Dekker, Milroy or us small PIs.

The BOD got over 2/3rds of the vote either the insto's know a touch more than us pi's or its all down to Cochrans crew taking over the management of the company if or even if not the deals done.
Likewise has Milroy or Dekker sold i single share! no.
Only a hunch but they could also know whats going on.

I have no idea why anyone would have voted to keep these wasters in place. Their strategy is to sit in place and hope something happens with GM.

Sadly, they (and we) will run out of time and money.

No updates since the 15th May.

As always the BoD are earning their crust.

Have they no shame?
