22/2/2019 07:30 | Friday 22 February, 2019 Webis Holdings PLC WatchandWager renews key California license RNS Number : 8091Q Webis Holdings PLC 22 February 2019 Webis Holdings PLC ("Webis" or the "Group") WatchandWager renews key California license for 2019-2021 Strategic ADW multi-jurisdictional license approved The board of Webis, the Group specializing in pool wagering and the operators of WatchandWager Cal Expo, the Californian harness track, is pleased to announce that, further to the three month extension granted at the end of November 2018, its Advanced Deposit Wagering ("ADW") business, WatchandWager.com LLC ("WatchandWager") received its two-year license approval from the California Horse Racing Board ("CHRB") on 21st February 2019 in California. The two-year ADW license renewal from the CHRB is for the years 2019-2021, and it allows WatchandWager to continue to accept online pari-mutuel wagers from residents of California. With over 39 million residents and ranked the fifth largest economy in the world, California is an increasingly important market for WatchandWager, both strategically and in terms of player numbers. Its long tradition as a premium center of horse racing makes it a rich source of horse players, and potentially sports bettors. The two-year license renewal from the CHRB is strategically important to WatchandWager as the state legislature considers bills legalizing sports wagering in the state of California. The current Adam Gray (Democrat) sponsored Sports Betting Bill is now approaching the Committee stage, in Sacramento. Whilst there will be a process to go through in California, it seems highly likely that Sports Betting will be approved, given the initial success in other states and the tax benefits from regulated gaming. When approved, WatchandWager's status as a licensed track operator and racing association in the state, would allow it to be one of the few companies to legally accept sports wagers from California residents, both on-line and at the Cal Expo track facility. Ed Comins, President of WatchandWager commented: "We are pleased to receive this license renewal from the California Horse Racing Board for WatchandWager for the next two years. These are very dynamic times in the racing and gaming industry in the USA, and we look forward to being ready to offer sports wagering to California residents as it is approved by the legislature. Our license to accept on-line wagers in California and at our physical racetrack operation, are a tremendous asset to the company" Ends | howdlep
22/2/2019 07:29 | yes a very comprehensive, bullish update. I couldn't be more pleased with that, given the progression with the Bill, which when approved, would allow Watchandwager "to be one of the few companies to legally accept sports wagers from California residents, both on-line and at the Cal Expo track facility". | howdlep
22/2/2019 07:18 | Fantastic rns just issued. Could have been just a few lines but a comprehensive statement | barnetpeter
22/2/2019 06:22 | WEB are already positioned in California and now they have the necessary two year license extension. That will allow them to sign those deals and partnerships already mentioned. However, the key point is it provides a predator with visibility, as they look to obtain a foothold in California. Now let's see if the RNS is released at 7am or shortly after. If it's the latter, then people have a brief opportunity to buy. Otherwise, there should be a gap up, as pi's try to buy stock ahead of the opening bell. With a low free float, the share price will appreciate very quickly. | howdlep
21/2/2019 23:13 | Yes its very good news. Two year licence in California. That means little in itself until sports betting is agreed. That may take some time of course....who knows? In the meantime, Web has cash, small profits, a billionaire as majority holder, never places or dilutes or has not for years so the risk here is a lot lower than in many micro caps. | barnetpeter
21/2/2019 19:47 | also it allows WEB to conclude software deals or even mergers and acquisitions. However, the end game is a predator taking them out. Now they have visibility ahead of a ballot, as tribal compacts are possibly renegotiated/extende | howdlep
21/2/2019 19:36 | Thank you for that much appreciated | noujay
21/2/2019 19:30 | it means they can continue to trade, maybe with similar or higher revenue growth (who knows, it was + 23% last results) and could now well be active until the approval of sports betting in the state., In addition any predators wanting a easy established route into the state may now be looking closer. | btfd
21/2/2019 19:04 | Well done guys that's good news.So in precise terms what does it mean for the company revenue wise this year and the next?Without Cali approving sports betting via race tracks then I can't work out what it means in real terms.I am very interested in any genuine insight into this business anybody here can provide. I get the US gaming possibilities - but also that they are very far from immediate! | noujay
