I'm amazed anyone still gives this company the benefit of the doubt with regards sales generation. I have been following them for many years now (since IPO) and they regularly, and materially, miss broker forecasts largely due to the ridiculous hubris of the CEO who has consistently failed to deliver.

But don't take my word for it, just dig out any historic research note from the myriad brokers they have been with and compare the forecast numbers with the cold reality of what actually happened.

The business has now spent over £200M of investor cash and remains heavily loss making with low growth in spite of being around for 8 years on AIM. If you believe historic performance is indicative of future performance this remains a slam dunk sucker stock.

With respect they don't necessarily have a "bad salesforce". With hindsight they made what turned out to be the wrong strategic decision to try and market direct. At the time they did this the market was fragmented so there was little option. In a sense they have had to wait for the major players to catch up with them and for the market to consolidate so that single providers now aim to to provide a seamless cradle to grave service.

Last year they realised this and hence the need to be embedded with the main players. Within 12 months they have re-architected their systems and procedures to make this happen. This would not have happened if MSFT, AMZM and the lesser players did not see real merit in the software.

Over the next 12 months we see what the impact is..... I expect next year to mark the inflection point towards a highly profitable company.

correct and v good news because WAND have proved they have a bad salesforce, the current head honcho of sales told CEO they would do 13mill three months ago and then missed that. richards should have sacked him 1st Jan.

Many thanks - very helpful. And beauty is that AWS and Azure are the sales teams doing all the leg work

"Current pipeline visibility" is the total sum of the revenue that the sales force is chasing. If a professionally run salesteam, then %tages will be allocated as to whether they will it and when.

I have 25 years experience of running sales teams for US software companies.

Edit: So in the context you asked the statement from WAND means they have more deals tracking than the 100PB for Azure and 30PB for AWS but it is those figures they are expecting the salesforce to close in 2021.

Volume is up notably and if we can hold on we'll have broken out of that pesky range. Plus (for the believers!) we are now over the 105 EMA.Agreed 2020 looks to be a slight miss but this was highlighted at half year. I guess the market still believes them when they say next year is the year! "Current pipeline visibility" hmmm i'd be interested to know what that means in practice?

Bamboo

Volume ticking up...I am no technician but feels to me £5 will clear.

Tickboo agree re cash .. but may feel they have enoughin pipe and newsflow to not dilute down here ... feels like the quick money is up ... then vulnerable to raise back in £6-8... but may hang tough here as 21 promises momentum off 20... too early to sell Imo .

Once invested in a company called Solazyme, a US based company with a processing plant in Brazil attached to large agri-business called Bunge. Had this technology to turn algae-based sugar extract into bio-fuel using waste material from Bunge. Fantastic idea, and interesting technology, however persistent problems with the plant drove the company into bankruptcy. CEO persistently sold stock on every pop, but one continued to believe the story, and got sentimentally attached to the idea in the belief things would come right. This company reminds me of that experience!

Might email the co about the KPI's

The transparency provided by this info would be amazing.

Always a good idea to take profit while you can here. The danger is they may look to raise cash while they have some for contingency. If their operational costs are say $42m FY and they miss their target again it would make sense to raise cash while they can. Perhaps the pipeline is genuinely impressive and they may not feel the need to.

Thanks tickboo.
No position here currently, as the recent uplift gave me an op to take a small profit.
Would look to buy back on a retrace to the support level.

There seems to be no mention of publishing KPI's.

It is a miss. They have said some revenue delayed to this year, they have said that pretty much every year.Awful results. That said they are now in a strong position with Azure and AWS so perhaps this will be the year wand finally delivers. The question is will they need a raise with $21m on cash and receivables due. They funnily enough had $21m operating costs H1 2020 so it will be tight. You would think they would raise more money as they have never hit or anywhere near hit their guidance for years.

-- Expects to report preliminary revenue for FY20 of at least $10.5m

Is this a miss?
I thought Edison suggesting $13-15m?

interesting point in todays edison article. ''More broadly, with cloud providers accounting for well over half the cloud market now adopting LiveData Migrator, it is well on the way to becoming the de-facto standard for migration to the cloud for large datasets.''

momentum is building it seems

You're not alone! Todays RNS was very heartening and points to WAND being in the right place, at the right time.

The problem is there is no value on these RNS, so the impact isn't as great as it could be.

It seems I might be alone in the view that the IBM news today is somewhat significant. This channel had died a death in the last 18 months , and IBM so call hybrid strategy had failed to emerge .. at a minimum there is inventory here that should underpin the 2021 number — another channel ( admittedly not the best of the bunch) -/ but also demonstrating the leverage of wands engineering effort into Livemigrator .. I think we have the low set .. like the chart here ... train is leaving ( again) one last trip ...

I will buy back here but will wait a little while longer and am surprised they need to sign more deals to make the paltry £12m forecast for this year. From Edison - We make no change to forecasts, as we believe WANdisco still needs to sign further deals to reach our FY20 estimate, but see the current acceleration in commercial activity as very encouraging.

oh i think that’s easy - trust is a long time won and easily destroyed. Wand had made a huge amount of promises about Financial targets all of which it’s got no near to meeting. The market used to give Wand the benefit of the doubt. Now in cricketing parlance it is using DRS to make sure it pitched in line hit in line and will go on to hit middle half way up! Only then can we move onwards n upwards!

RNS looks ostensibly reassuring. Why the muted response in share price ?
