So we're at the first point of resistance and if we go through the next point is around £6.91?

You could say the same about all PLCs are most take at least a couple of weeks to give an update after a period closes.I hope you've timed your buy well and this is just the beginning and as someone said we get back to double figures by end of Q2 (or sooner).

They seemingly offer similar stuff to wand, replication but not sure whether they're able to do so at petabyte scale..

One could say this validates the market .. but When AWS decide they want to be in the solution in kind of ends up pretty ugly .. the most positive spin is that it means that it’s a big enough “problem”; for AWS to make it a feature .. and cloudendure gets them along the learning curve very quickly ... let’s hope what ever Azure plans on doing / ( IBM ) is strong enough to compete ..

Sure AWS looked at them for a while but perhaps the 3 Jan RNS accelerated their plans. The contract was won directly by WANdisco, whilst working with Amazon Web Services. The Client will deploy Fusion to enable continuous replication of data across multiple Amazon cloud environments and locations. This marks the first contract where a Client will utilise Fusion for both multi-cloud and multi-tenancy use cases. The initial three-year subscription contract is valued at approximately $565,000 with opportunities for expansion during the term. The contract was closed and will be recognised in FY 2018.Is the below accurate given what Cloudendure offers?WANdisco Fusion is the only solution that can enable organisations to seamlessly move large volumes of data with consistent and continuous availability whilst meeting regulatory requirements. WANdisco's patented technology ensures our customers are able to leverage the impact of their IT investment to support exponential data growth without growing the IT budget.

At a reported $200m a lot cheaper than buying wand. I guess a lot of AWS clients will be harder to win for wand once this goes through? They offer near zero down time so not quite what wand has.

My favourite bit is the substantial contracts won through IBM which we had not heard of until now. Even if FY18 forecast are missed I can't see if being by a great deal and hopefully very little if any cash has been burnt H2. Hopefully the update end of next week and perhaps a revised Edison forecast for 19 soon after.

https://www.cloudpro.co.uk/cloud-essentials/hybrid-cloud/7863/ibm-and-wandisco-team-up-on-relational-database-techIBM and WANdisco have developed relational database technology to extend IBM Big Replicate (WANdisco Fusion) for customers requiring a hybrid cloud environment solution.Although WANdisco has previously supported Hadoop to offer a SQL solution on private clouds, this is the first time the company has been in a position to also support relational databases for hybrid set-ups.IBM Db2 Big SQL, which has been jointly developed with WANdisco, takes IBM Big Replicate one step further, offering a SQL engine for Hadoop, with the added bonus of HDFS, RDBMS, NoSQL databases, object stores and WebHDFS source support."This co-engineered SQL solution with IBM is an exciting breakthrough for WANdisco as this is the first time that our technology has been applied to SQL data," David Richards, chief executive officer and chairman of WANdisco said."This launch also represents a significant advancement of our relationship with a key partner and the scope of our addressable market in IBM's channel. WANdisco's unique technology presents great opportunity to collaborate with partners to address novel data requirements that previously have not been possible to meet."Benefits of IBM Db2 Big SQL include low latency, high security, SQL compatibility, and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and federation capabilities, giving data scientists and others with the responsibilities for processing data the tools to access data and scale their business, however many users need to access the information at once."Our close relationship with IBM was built upon further in 2018 with an increased royalty percentage and substantial client contracts," Richards added. "We look forward to growing opportunities with IBM in the year ahead, leveraging our new co-engineered product to address as yet untapped data requirements."

Also one would think given IBM have co-developed it their sales reps will be even more keen to push the product. I imagine they were developing sales leads while it was being developed so I wouldn't be surprised if deals are closed relatively quickly.

What I like is the closer relationship with IBM and they clearly see the NPD as a decent revenue stream or wouldn't have spent time and money on it. We didn't have any RNSs re IBM cloud wins as I assume they weren't material (so probably $100k to $200k) but good to hear they're generating clients so at least 4 weren't announced which proves the point that I'm sure many others have been won as well as the big ticket material wins. New customers with IBM were secured in insurance, banking, telecommunications and with the US Government and on 27 December 2018 the Group won a three-year contract through IBM with a major American managed healthcare company valued at approximately $700k in royalties.

AWS + Azure don't allow DB2 databases but they very much do allow other SQL based relational databases i.e. the market leaders Oracle and SQL Server. As the concept of replication of relational database is now proved I am sure WAND will be able to apply to other vendors.

SQL is a very large slice of the data market.

This Database only works on IBM Cloud so it's not huge news, but still a step forward down another path. (AWS + Azure don't allow DB2 databases).

I imagine WAND will partner with IBM on block chain next also.

Yorkshire Post article below. I like the substantial IBM contracts quote in 2018, as stated in the RNS.WANdisco set to increase opportunities with IBM in 2019David Richards, the chief executive and chairman of WANdisco, commented: "This co-engineered SQL solution with IBM is an exciting breakthrough for WANdisco as this is the first time that our technology has been applied to SQL data."This launch also represents a significant advancement of our relationship with a key partner and the scope of our addressable market in IBM's channel. WANdisco's unique technology presents great opportunity to collaborate with partners to address novel data requirements that previously have not been possible to meet."Our close relationship with IBM was built upon further in 2018 with an increased royalty percentage and substantial client contracts. As a new year dawns, it marks the perfect time to assess the industry landscape. According to the latest note from Synergy Research, 2018 saw the cloud market hit $250 billion (£196bn) globally, with a 32% annual growth. While plenty of the critical acclaim goes on the public cloud infrastructure side of the house, the analyst firm posited that all market segments had risen comfortably over the past 12 months. The wider bucket of infrastructure hardware and software saw particularly impressive growth in 2018, with public, private and hybrid cloud. The leading vendors in this space are the usual suspects in terms of network and infrastructure equipment; Dell EMC, Cisco and HPE, with a note for Microsoft and VMware. In terms of software, enterprise SaaS saw a 30% gain, with unified comms as a service (UCaaS) at just over 20%.IaaS and PaaS however remained the biggest growth area with an almost 50% gain. This would be considered poor fare compared with previous years, but as Synergy itself noted during the most recent round of financial postings, expecting 100% growth off the bat every time would be optimistic. "[This] is just the law of large numbers kicking in," said chief analyst John Dinsdale at the time. "You cannot keep on growing at 100% when you reach massive scale."The leading cloud providers also continued speculating to accumulate in 2019. As figures from November found, hyperscaler capex hit more than $26 billion, with spending up 53% from the first three quarters of 2017. This represented the largest spend – barring anomalies – since records began. While spending on cloud services first overtook spend on the hardware and software used to build clouds in 2016, the previous two years has seen that gap 'widen dramatically.'"In 2018, cloud started to dominate IT spending in some areas, sucking up potential growth opportunities for non-cloud technologies and services," said Dinsdale. "Cloud technologies are now generating massive revenues for both cloud service providers and technology vendors and our latest forecasts show that while market growth rates will inevitably erode due to the sheer scale of the numbers, the overall market will double in size in under four years."
