Scion collaboration with Designs in Mind
Sanderson Design Group PLC (AIM: SDG), the luxury interior design and furnishings group, is pleased to announce the launch by its Scion brand of a capsule collection of wallpapers and fabrics created in collaboration with Designs in Mind, a social enterprise that uses art and design to support people with mental health challenges.
The collection of three wallpapers and two fabrics was created through a series of workshops hosted by the Scion design team and the designs combine artwork and ideas from some of the people that visit Designs in Mind's studio in Oswestry, Shropshire.
The studio is a creative environment for people with mental health issues to meet and work together on art and design projects, with some of the finished products being sold on Designs in Mind's website.
The collection of Scion x Designs in Mind wallpapers and fabrics will be launched today at the Focus 22 interiors exhibition at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, London.
The launch event will include a presentation on the development of the collection hosted by Scion designer Charlotte Gibson and Designs in Mind. The event will also include broader perspectives on the role of design in supporting mental health from the renowned interiors writer Suzanne Imre and the designer and mental health advocate Steuart Padwick.
The Scion wallpapers and fabrics will be available for purchase from today at the Scion online shop, www.scionliving.com .
In common with other Scion designs, the ones created through the collaboration with Designs in Mind are ideally suited to licensed product. Bedeck, the Company's core licensee for bedlinen, has already in-licensed some of the designs for bedroom products.
Lisa Montague, Sanderson Design Group's Chief Executive Officer, said: " We are delighted, through this collaboration with Scion, to have been able to support Designs in Mind, a social enterprise whose invaluable work helps people with mental health challenges. Our belief is that the joy found in design can create a positive emotional and physical experience for all, sparking creativity and leading to positive change. Supporting Designs in Mind is also in line with our Live Beautiful sustainability strategy, in which we are seeking to lead the interiors industry through small initiatives that together make a major impact."
