Posted at 13/4/2024 20:45 by harry_david One more thing I would mention. They are strong in the mining sector. This has been very difficult recently but is showing good signs of revival lead by gold, silver and copper. The first two have had a phenomenal rise in price over the last two months, if maintained they will be in lotto-land. |
Posted at 10/4/2024 16:31 by harry_david Pitbear, you may be right, Kuvare fund managers has just been bought for a valuation of 5% of funds under management, $1 billion for $20 billion.WHI have about £2 billion so worth maybe £100 million. |
Posted at 27/12/2023 10:10 by panther21 If you look at the small print not the awful losses and decline in turnover and AUM it appears to have stabilised in November and will 'keep the market informed of its strategic options 'so it's basically in fire sale mode and it's all a question of price . Lord Marland who sold at 140p is looking like a genius mere mortals will be lucky to get 5p. |

Posted at 31/7/2023 23:17 by dartagnan4 Oceans4, very interesting comments. WHI have lost several discretionary fund managers in recent months which, ironically, should have reduced their staff costs at present without impacting on their client revenue yet due to restrictive covenants. Will clients start leaving en masse once the restrictive covenant periods elapse? Also, articles were in the Telegraph and Times this weekend I believe, so clients will be starting to get wind of the situation. This public knowledge is likely to make any potential buyer very nervous about client retention. |
Posted at 28/7/2023 16:35 by bumpa33 WHI is one of the worst, if not THE worst of the low end retail broking outfits. Their reputation was in the dirt way before this debacle. Do feel for shareholders who’ve been trashed on this move though… |
Posted at 28/7/2023 09:49 by meijiman I'm not a holder but reading for entertainment. The ceo at WHI I believe was a failure at Panmure and 'asked to leave'. Everywhere he goes turns into a disaster zone.Clearly without any integrity I would say. |
Posted at 28/7/2023 08:21 by pugugly Intrinsic value? Those companies where WHI is the AIM nomad are likely to be very worried this morning and stating to possibly think about replacement nomad in worst case scenario.Shades of VSA? Now who could be the likely gainer? |
Posted at 04/7/2023 11:51 by bumpa33 WHI can chase ‘em all they like, they’ve got sod all chance of snaring any of ‘em though. Going from Numis to WHI would be like getting relegated from the Premier League to the Vanarama in one move..! |
Posted at 01/4/2023 09:43 by oceans4 It is rather painful, but I think the end game is zero (unless there's a takeover) and the share price is expensive (which is probably one reason for there not having been a takeover). The company is easily in the bottom tier of its class when it comes to efficiency and it isn't respected. Respect at best is a myth management like to tell themselves and others. The company has achieved very little over the years and the share price reflects this. The opportunity costs over the years have been huge. Based on its historical platform it should probably be the biggest stockbroker in the UK. For example, the business was a significant national execution only stock broker long before any of the current major online brokers even existed. Hargreaves was literally working out of his garage as a one man band IFA. |
